It keeps saying that it's missing a file, something to do with Windows Setup. I don't have my computer with me now, I'm at the library. sad.gif It keep saying to press 'R' to repair the file, but, it just turns off and turns the computer on again and blinks up the same message. It says that I should put in my CD that came with the Toshiba Laptop, but I don't know where it is. Does anyone know what the heck I can do? I think I lost everything in my computer. OH NO! Please help!

indeed you have lost everything on your computer. you will need to reformat your computer. the easy way to do it is with your windows xp cd. without it, you will have to understand ms-dos. but thats hard to explain. find your windows cd that came with your laptop and google online on how to reformat.

good luck to you~~ :/

You DO know windows XP has a repair install feature. http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm

It basically deletes the windows folder and reinstalls windows. Programs and files stay intact.

Also depending on how much you REALLY want the files, its certianly possible to extract them.

Did you see the link I posted about the XP repair install?

Please take a look at it, I don't google and find the correct links for reference just for the fun... I like that tutorial and think it would be useful.

sleep.gif and whats the cost of trying? If you take it to the shop, they will charge you at least $30 to do something I can guarantee you can do... format and install windows. I want you do to a repair install which is a little different, and has maybe 2 extra steps but would save your files and should be all worth it in my opinion.
