i accidentally scratched the front bumper of my car when i was backing out of the driveway. its a new toyota rav-4, so my parents are kind of pissed.
i went to get a quote and the guy said it would be 350 because they have to take off the bumper, strip of the paint, and reapply the coating and paint. i think its a little ridiculous, because its seriously just a small scratch on the bumper. however, it does go all the way down to the plastic.
so my question is this: how do i go about fixing it up myself? i know it won't be the same as getting it fixed professionally, but the bumper is just plastic and i think it would just be more practical to cover it up since its so small. i imagine i would have to smooth it down, apply some sort of primer and paint over it. im a total newbie so anyone can help me on the specific materials i need and anything i should watch out for, i would really appreciate it.

Is it just a surface scratch?
If so, you could wet sand it down to make it look a little better.

Whatever you do to it. It will still look like crap unless you get it professional

haha, my front bumper looks like someone took a BB gun and shot it a bunch of times. High speed highway driving takes a toll on your front end after a while.

its not really noticable as it is now. it doesnt need to look great, i just dont want the plastic exposed longer than it needs to be.

if its down to the plastic there isn't much u can do
using touchup paint wont work because it wont stick to the surface well....
but ya....all u can do to get rid of it is to get it repainted....

just curious, but on average how long does it take for a body shop to fix the bumper?
