Cancelled Admission!!! Help my cousin out >.<

He has talked to a dean of admissions and he explained the logic of what he did, but the office does not find his explanation adequate (and to be honest, neither do I, but he's my cousin, I should try to be helpful instead of critical >.<) All of the other Korean international students scaled their Korean grades to fit the American A-F scale, which he failed to do. He called the office of admission today and they say that they will be sending out a letter of cancellation and he can never attend a UC school in his life (breach of integrity).
Any advice for what he can do?

but seriously, i don't think you can do anything. that's pretty harsh though, not being able to go to any UC.

My cousin was supposed to begin UCSC in the fall. He went to 9th grade in Korea and moved here for 10th-12th. During the application process, I guess he wrote down that all of his 9th grade scores were "equivalent to A", because the UC site did not provide grades according to the Korean grading system. His grades were most definitely not "equivalent to A" and probably drifting along the "C" level. UCSC checked out his grade report and saw the discrepancy and asked him several times for an adequate explanation, which he failed to give.

hire a lawyer
or... find a decent school he can attend (honestly, UCSC isnt the best school in the world...he can do much better transferring to another non-uc school)

I'm going to UCSC myself... hmm... Well he did mess up his chances... but did he really know that he messed it up when he submitted it. He can argue the fact that there was no set method of converting grades... but other than that... I don't know what to say...

well i think at this stage he's effectively screwed... but in the past, could he have argued that since the UC site didn't provide a way to scale the korean grading system, he simply misunderstood?
i don't know. man, that's a harsh lesson... but it's a really good one too. i don't think your cousin will ever try to fib his way through an application again.
