Hiee smile.gif
so my second year living in a dorm will start in a month~
sadly i love to cook but there are no kitchens anywhere mellow.gif...
at times when i just wanted to eat in the room without having to go out,my choices were basically junkfood-cupnoodles,chips,etc.
with a microwave, coffee pot, and a fridge, i couldn't do much.
i think i'm going to get a crockpot(?) or a toaster oven this time to expand my options.
i want real food!!!not some pre-made microwaveable meal.
welll.what do you have stored in ur room to fill your days and nights of hunger?
any recipes or ideas are welcome!
thanks<3

Cereal and milk. Turkey sandwiches. PB&J sandwiches Mmm!

Some people bring rice cookers with them, but those are illegal in my dorms. As are toasters and anything with an exposed heat source. It's not hard to hide though. Some of my friends steam dumplings in their rice cookers too.

There's lots you can do with just a microwave. Frozen vegetables can be heated up in the microwave and are sometimes better than raw vegetables you can buy.

i used to buy those instant rice things..pre packaged rice that you just microwave for 2 mins. and my fridge would have random, simple stuff that you can eat with rice. sandwiches and cereal are good calls too.

freezing rice and microwaving it again doesn't taste bad, and just buy fresh hot foods from stores since I lived 5 minutes away from Chinatown lol.

-lots of shin ramyun (i had the bowl ones for the first half of the semester but it didn't taste the same as the bagged ones, so switched in the second semester; also tried neoguri seafood ones and i loved the bigger noodles)

-leftovers dimsum and korean most of the time

-had a meal plan so i could always go down to dining hall (all u can eat).
Thought I couldn't live without you
It's gonna hurt when it heals too
Even though I really loved you
I'm gonna smile 'cause I deserve to.

buy a george foreman grill and grill steaks, burgers, hotdogs etc.

they weren't allowed in the dorms at my school but it's not like they can catch you unless you leave the door open

Chef's salad maybe? It's a pretty easy no-hassle lunch...just buy those pre-packaged lettuce, ham, cheese, olives...anything else you want to put in it, and you're all set smile.gif For a quick snack, I like to put pepperoni and cheese (there's presliced pepperoni at the grocery) on triscuits/wheat thins/any type of cracker or biscuit and zap 'em in the microwave for about 30 seconds...tastes kinda like a mini-pizza, hehe. <3 Canned soups are also another option...I also made curry using a hotpot (the instant packaged ones). smile.gif

Two words:

easy mac

Please don't forget me. { I'm going away. }
I'm taking a taxi to Kentucky where they don't even know all about me. I just need to feel s a f e.
I've got a thousand sweaters, and shoes, and paintings to hide the skeletons in my way.
But he said, "Slow down, slow down. Think it over, we've all got wretched closets, but silly girl pride kills more than Aids lately."
I said, "Come on, I thought it over. I don't wanna die here. I have no desire to get mrried."
Every night I pray for you, don't believe in heaven or that it could be a happy place.

Easy Mac, Lipton Sidekicks... sooo many microwavable food options!

Also, you can make baked potatoes in the microwave. Just scrub your potato clean, put it on a paper towel and microwave for 5 minutes. Then flip it over and microwave for 3 minutes. Ta-da!! Baked potato!! (add sour cream, butter, etc.) biggrin.gif

oatmeal definately! it fills you up... it's great in the mornings, at night when you've got the munchies... and it's perfect for colder weather...

and all you need is a coffee pot.

i also keep a lot of tea bags around.. like korean barley tea, green tea, oolong tea, jasmine, lemon tea... because i don't drink coffee...and it's also great anytime during the day.

granola bars
fruits that won't rot fast (like apples, bananas, pears)
crackers and cheese
hot rooster sauce
salsa and chips

Rice Cooker + Ramen (instant noodles)

I think Ramen tastes better cooked with a rice cooker than a pot.. haha.. but then that could have just been the experience of eating it that way in college. But it was good~~
