back door trojan is a condom for your backdoor laugh.gif JK a back door trojan allow the hacker to have access to your computer, its a little bit different from a virus since virus is destrustive. Somewhere in the trojan code send some information to the hacker so they know they got your computer hooked. Well I agree with you norton is no help, its total crap. Have you tried an online antivirus? Try that if it dont remove it you have to ask an expert to help you.

I don't know how true it is, but based on a website I saw earlier this week, they found the popular antiviruses... norton, mcafee, and trend micro would miss out on about 80% of the viruses because they were created to be ignored by the antivirus.

To the original poster, can you start up in safe mode and try a scan? Perhaps you should try out AVG free antivirus to see if a different antivirus would have better luck removing it.

To reformat will remove all data you had on your hard drive.

Process is simple, slightly time consuming, about an hour for windows and countless hours getting the computer to feel like YOURS again. The problem is you will loose all your files unless you back them up. Of course if you back up files, you run the risk of backing up an infected file as well. But lets assume it wouldn't.

Please try a different antivirus or even a system restore... or doing the scan+fix when windows is in safe mode BEFORE you try to format. Its like you have an infection on your hand and instead of trying different ways of fixing it, you simply amputate. Extremely effective but brutal.

system restore is not going to do anything, first make sure the wgavn.exe is not running do a "cltl+alt+del" and end that process, then run the antivirus again and see if it will delete it, or you can do the old fashion way and delete it manually.
