Whether you're an undergraduate or a graduate deciding to/going to medical school, are you going into research or primary care?
I realized that some schools focus on research, such as Harvard or JHU, while others focus on primary care, such as Univ. of Washington or Duke.

I'd like to know your reasons as to why you chose that specific type.
I think I know the basic difference between the two, but I just want to see how each one works.

I'm going for Primary Care. DEFINITELY.

I did a little bit of research during my undergrad [in last year of undergrad now] and HATED IT. I don't mind the lab now and then for classes, but imagining a whole life of doing that?! No way.

I think the only way you can really figure it out is to try it out.

Primary care to begin with, because I really like the person-to-person contact. Later on, I'll probably shoot for research, because I'm very interested in research in general. Sorry I'm so vague, but I'm still deciding where in the medical field I'm going too.
Still young, but I feel incredibly old. Silly me.

I'm planning to go into both fields. Get my M.D. first, then do Research and get my Ph.D. Most Medical Schools offer M.D.-Ph.D degrees but it is highly competitive to get in them, for so few spots are available. It usually is about 7 years (4 yrs. medschool + 2 yrs. research) but it varies, until you get your degree. Have a little time for patient care, and on the other doing cutting-edge research.
