I'm not a religious person at all. I'm an agnostic, and I'm pretty comfortable with that. However, my roommate in the fall is the daugher of a pastor. She's Korean and she seems very cool, but I just want to know what other people's experiences were when one roommate was religious and the other not very much so. And do you think the two different type of people can live together without huge problems? (Example: I have no plans on spending my Sundays in church, but do you think she would keep on pressuring me to go? etc)

Is this going to be a problem?

heh i was in that situation, but flip-flopped. i was the korean christian, while my roommate wasn`t into religion. whatever problems we have were practically never based upon our differences of faith~ the only problem we ever really had when it came down to this was the fact that i got up early sunday mornings for church and sometimes ended up waking her while getting ready. that kinda made her mad because she had wanted to sleep in xP

i doubt it'll cause any problems- unless she's obsessively religious.

I have two close friends that are pastors of daughters. I don't think you'll have any problems unless you offend them or evoke them. You should tell her right off that you respect that she believes in something you don't believe and that you want the same respect, although I shouldn't be saying this because I'm a Christian. x_x
But it really depends on their personalities moreso than their religion. If she's usually stubborn and closed-minded, then it might be a problem.

OMG. DAUGHTERS OF PASTORS. HAHAHAHA.

heh you'll pressured at first, but they'll stand down eventually. if you two have things in common, trust me religion will not get in the way of your friendship. everyone is entitled to their own beliefs and it's only human nature to share that with others especially friends. don't let it bother you because it shouldn't/wont

Flat out I'm a Christian. A real believer won't judge you and won't pressure you. Just remember you can speak your mind and so can they, I'm referring to if you want a debate you'll most likely get one. But there's so much to talk about, religion is a topic you can live without. Too much in this world to get hung over about one thing. If worse comes to worst, you'll learn patience and overstanding.
Sometimes you have to look at the past to determine what you truly want to become.
Just make sure to look forward again.

It depends, I suppose. If she is the type that actively tries to convert you or criticizes you for not being Christian, then boundaries need to be set. You two will have to talk over your expectations for each other. Last year, I had a roommate that was Korean and Christian and I was agnostic just like you. She was pretty good about it. She invited me to church a few times, and I was planning on going with her one time, but then she ended up not going herself that week so heh. From personal experience, as you live with your roommate you will discover how she feels about her religion, just respect that. For instance, my roommate read the Bible every night before bed, prayed before she ate, went to church on Sunday, didn't do anything "social" or "fun" on that day either. Basically, just over the months, I've learned her habits, and so always kept her feelings in mind when suggesting something to do over the weekend I'd keep to to Saturday only. My other roommate never seemed to remember that she doesn't do stuff on Sunday because of her religion beliefs, so I think that was a bit annoying. Just remember her feelings and respect them.
