i'm a high school senior, but can somebody fill me in about the campus wide honors program?
apparently, i've been accepted but im dont know what it is..
thanks

Hey! I'm in CHP, so if you have questions, feel free to ask me.
I'll try to keep it short and simple:
1. The perks:
- FIRST to register for classes. This is a HUGE advantage, since freshmen often can't get into the classes they need.
- 4 YEAR guaranteed housing. Other students only get two year guaranteed housing. So for your 3rd and 4th years, you have the option of staying in the on-campus apartments.
2. Required honors courses: you have to take these courses in order to stay in CHP
- Humanities Core H1A-B-C (TOTALLY worth it, in my opinion. fulfills a bunch of general ed. requirements)
- Social Sciences Core H1E-F-G (....not worth it. haha try to get it waived if you can)
- Science Core H90 (Bio/Chem/Physics/Earth Systems Science)
3. Thesis: in order to graduate with honors, you have to write a thesis your final year. This means you have to find a professor who will be your advisor and you have almost the whole school year to complete it.
Here's the official website. Check out the GPA requirements for staying in CHP and more detailed information.
http://www.honors.uci.edu/My advice is that you should definitely do it, even if it's just for a year or two. If you decline the offer now, it's much more difficult to apply and get in later on. You can leave the program at any time if you so choose.
