I've been admitted to UCI after being wait listed, but I'm admitted as a Bio Science major instead of my intended major, Nursing Science. I'm wondering are the prerequisites for Nursing Science similar to Bio Science? Also is it hard to switch from Bio Science to Nursing Science?
few of my friends are in nursing, and i think you can apply separately after a year or two into nursing. i dont think it's too hard to switch into nursing if you're in bio because you essentially take the same classes from what i heard (except for physics, which nursing people don't have to take!).
btw i recently graduated from UCI... only seems like yesterday that i was in irvine!

Congrats! I have two questions. When is the deadline to submit your SIR and are you still guaranteed housing? I'm still waiting for mine ughh. If I get in I'm pretty sure I'm going.

but yeah i still get guaranteed housing because... it's not my fault about the late notification. IT BETTER NOT BE (:
good luck!

Is it possible to switch after I start attending UCI? I have not taken most of the core pre-reqs such as bio94, 97, 98, etc.
I have not taken it because I heard that you have to take it AT UCI anyway.
I'm PLANNING on taking those pre-reqs junior year and then apply for nursing senior year and become a 5th year :/
any advice?

if you go to the orientation they should tell you about switching majors.

My parents told me not to think about it until the weekend though because I'm kinda swamped with homework right now lol

If not being able to go home a lot is an issue to you, I'd say ignore it!!!
Yes, Irvine seems to be known as a sort of commuter school, with a lot of the student population going home during the weekends. I used to be one of those students. I'm in my second year right now and since I have a car here, I would go home almost every weekend because I thought it was just "more comfortable" and that it was "too boring" here on the weekends. Well, since winter quarter, I've rarely gone home and I have totally regretted going home so often in the past! Plenty of my friends stay during weekends and I've been missing out on so much. And you can usually find parties in VDC! Like, yeah, it does get boring once in a while, but really, I think not going home very often will help you become more adept at living on your own. Even if you do decide to go to Davis, you should stay during the weekends! Guys, don't contribute to UCI's self fulfilling prophecy of kids going home every weekend! haha Anyway, good luck with your decision! UCI is a great school, and you'd probably really like it!

Thank you

to sublet your apartment you just draw up a contract for the X amount of time and rent.
you might want to ask for a safety deposit fee.

yeah most of the subleasing in irvine (and for many other school areas for that matter) is done "under the table" without the landlord really knowing. i think most leasing contracts have a clause saying you cant sublease but everyone does it anyway. and esp. during summer there is a big competition for ppl to try to sublease their apts as a result of so many kids going home for the summer/commuting so you might like to try to find someone asap.
from my experience i've seen ppl sublease for as low as $250-300 a month during the summer (well below the rent they have to pay) so that they can save out at least partially on having to pay the full rent.
good luck!
