Don't let your friend's decision affect your perception of HumCore. He doesn't want to take it because he wants to get easy As to boost his GPA. But if you want to take HumCore because it seems interesting, then you should take it. Don't worry, it's really not that bad! Look at the soompi-ers in here who are still taking it. We're alive and kickin' hahaha

BY THE WAY!! This is slightly irrelevant, but save this link: http://www.ocf.berkeley.edu/~mlyang/scheduler/
It'll come in VERY HANDY when you plan out your quarterly class schedule.

^ thank you for the website vc1188! sorry, i forgot to sign off of my friend's account [mOnk] T_T lol she's going to berkeley and taking ap calc bc! lol. i just checked the thread and wondered why she posted in the UCI section..and realized it was me who wrote the post. LOL

Yeah, don't let HumCore scare you. Cause the kid you know is dumb for thinking that WR39 is an easy A. You can LOL at him later on when he starts to receive C- papers like 80% of the class will, or LOL at him when he gets B- for working his tail off ^____^.

LOL. 39C was def not an easy A or an A at all. I think HC and 39 are both pretty hard. But I found that most of my friends who took HumCore got B+/A-. They explained to me that although the work is hard, the grade seemed to actually match their effort... unlike 39C T___T.
Whatever... they're both hard in their own special, hideous, strenuous, stressing ways. hehe.
But in the end, HumCore is able to cover 2 breadth subjects rather than just the writing portion. :[ I should've taken HumCore. Someone rewind my year to the beginning so I can switch into HUmCore.

^ ah. i see that there are a lot of support for humcore since it covers the 2 breadth subjects. i will definitely be taking it. haha scared T_T

^ UCI's bigger than UCLA? O_O I really feel like we're spoiled on this small campus. Since all the buildings are built closely around a circle path, everything seems very close! But yes, the ARC is very far x_X

^ what??? uci is definitely not small! maybe im not used to it..but when i went there to visit..it was SO tiring walking around. and the ARC is sooo far away >_<

ok i have another question. my pre-calc class at my nearby community college is over and unfortunately i didnt pass the class. >_< i had to juggle my regular school schedule with the night class and i missed many class sessions. ah, the college class was so easy though! im sad =[. but the teacher didnt make up go to class or do any hw. there were like 10 kids in my class. WELL..my question is...do i HAVE to send in my grade from the class? cause its an F...and that looks so bad. im going to take precalc in the summer at the same community college or at uci's summer bridge program. i rather take it at uci though...but i dont know if im going to get picked. so yea...do i have to send in that grade? cause i know im sending in my high school transcript. will the UCs know if i took another class somewhere else? ah, this is so stressful. lol

CV = apartments for all undergrads
ME/MC = dorms for just freshmen (excluding RAs and other staff)

I'm pretty sure most CV apartments consist of two bedrooms for four people, bathroom, kitchen, and living room

Check out this page for info, floor plans, etc: http://www.housing.uci.edu/cv/

I just got mines today. I got the housing contract and everything and it says that its due on june 15 with the reservation fee and everything. I didn't know that campus village houses only 4 people per apartment. that's kinda nice, cuz the residence halls house up to like 40+ students per building. crazy.gif

More like 80 students per building.

YIKES!!! crazy.gif Talk about personal space!! wacko.gif My tour guide told me that it averaged about 40-50 students per building. I guess the overpopulation of freshmen totally went overboard. sweatingbullets.gif

I think they rounded down, a lot. o_o but okay, I live in the biggest hall in Middle Earth (81 people I believe), but most others have like 60 people

There will definitely be more per building with each passing year, due to the increasing # of freshmen attending. More and more doubles are becoming triples I think, so I'd say we're pretty lucky!

this is what my counsler told me. cal grant A stays the same throughout your years in college, however with cal grant B it increases each year i believe.
she said dont accept cal grant A unless its like 6,000 or something but if its 2,000 then go for B. for example mine is like 1,550, but it'll increase each time. i never called to see how much i get for cal grant A tho.

you kind of have to put in choices don't you? I guess you don't need to think too long or hard about it, but don't completely randomly choose.

I've noticed that the academic halls in Middle Earth (excluding The Shire) are really quiet and nerdy too, so there is a correlation! haha
and the PICCL (Participation in Campus & Civic Life) halls are really energetic and spirited.
and surprisingly the IR (Interpersonal Relationships) halls are very detached and clique-ish. that's where I live.

Don't know for Mesa though

I'm choosing FYEP (First Year Excellence Program) cause I'm going in undeclared but I don't know what to choose for the other two choices for Mesa Court and Middle Earth. Any advice?

seriously, don't think so much into it. You'll probably get your first choice anyway.
