do the dorms have air conditioning? b/c if not, I'm getting like, a mini air conditioner. like the ones that you plug in and put in the corner of the room. like a small fan but with cold air. lol.

They don't! I'm definitely bringing a fan.

I think I'm just going to bring a fridge. If I really wanted to microwave something I'll just go to the kitchen I guess.

Don't let them catch you bringing in a fridge--if it's not the microfridge you order through uci, it's technically not allowed.

^Thought you can bring a fridge - you just can't bring a microwave into your room. Fridge has to be less than 4.3 cubic feet.

A Brita pitcher WILL fit in a microfridge, but it might not leave enough room if you want to put more food in there.

Oh really? I just remember my year there was a restriction on all electronics, I could be wrong though.

You're allowed to bring a fridge.

Please note: Microwaves and refrigerators are available in the hall kitchens. Refrigerators in individual rooms are permitted if they are UL-approved and not larger than 4.3 cubic feet.

im typing this for a friend who is currently in a community college and plans to apply to uci as a junior transfer student. Qualifies for TAG,psychology major, pretty good grades. He finished the first year of college already and has straight A's except for one C in a class that is not required for his major. So..major gpa is 4.0. and culmulative is 3.5. will this C hurt him alot? I personaly dont think it was his fault..his teacher was unbelievably unfair. During the semester that he got a C, he took five classes so he received four A's.

If he does fairly well (no more than 2 B's) for the rest of his second year in college, will he be able to transfer to uci?

how hard is transferring to uci? I know that for ucla, average gpa of psych majors was a 3.7 ish.
sumos.

how do you know if you need a clicker or not?
and what size of a briter pitcher? the only pitcher that i saw at costco is bigger than a typical liter of soda, so i was thinking that would be too big.

also, is there anybody that has received partial financial aid (with loans covering the rest) and has lived in the dorms? i have quite a few questions about paying for fees and receiving the rest of my money and the financial aid office isn't responding. can't help feel but worried because i don't know if all my fees are definitely covered and such. please pm me!

Whoa I'm taking the exact same classes as you except for Humanities Core. I should have taken it now that I think of it :/...

HELP!
What do you all recommend. Humanities Core 1A s/a or Writing 39A??

About iClickers ... I used them for both Bio 93 & 94. You just need to make sure that you can see the barcode on the back if you decide to buy used ones.

xSHADOW: And trying to decide between Humcore S/A and Writing 39A - I've said this many times on the thread, but I pretty much loved Humcore XD It all depends on you though - Humcore has more intensive reading, but the papers seem to be more broad than those of the Writing series, making it easier [for me!] to write. Tried helping a friend out for Writing, and it seemed so dry. You went to Creek? I went to EV (:

Just wondering but has anyone paid for their classes via mail/check? My dad doesn't want to pay via credit card because the amount of money is so high.

I still don't really know how to pay, for some reason zot/web reg confused me. >_<

Aww haha I'm having such a hard time picking because Human Core sounds like it can benefit me on the long run but I hear the workload is excruciating haha??

Haha what a small world :]. So are you a sophomore now?

I don't think you can pay via credit card @_@ I paid for my classes via check ( I mailed it in ) o.o

I went to zot portal logged in, the Finances tab, and then ZOT Account Online.. log in, and click Current Account on the left side. on the bottom of the page should have "print payment stub" or "make payment/update profile"

If you're going to pay via mailing a check, then you need to print a payment stub and include that stub with the check in your envelope (:

I hope I made sense D:

It's the 3rd edition by Campbell, I believe.
Are iClickers required for Bio 93?

o.o that's weird. the maid never went into my dorm room. and really, i don't think the maid has the power to tell you that you can't have things in your room...especially if there are no rules against it...

if you're a bio major, i'd say you will most likely be using it in some other classes. it's really up to the professor. some use it to take attendance, and give you participation points. if you don't want to buy it full price from the bookstore, you can always try searching facebook's marketplace for used ones.

QUOTE (g-yo @ Aug 28 2009, 03:01 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

if you look up the books you need on the bookstore website, it will have the iclicker as a required item, if you need it for that class.

they don't accept credit card anyways, because they would need to charge a fee for that making your tuition higher. i've never paid by mail...but i do pay by check...straight up to the central cashier. be sure to write your id number on the memo part of the check.

more info on making payments here: http://www.fs.uci.edu/Cashier/payments.htm
