But if you really want to study, just know the REALLY REALLY basic stuff.
Trust me, half the test doesn't even have to do with chemistry.

Sorry for the people who I've said I my parents are going to find a house. My parents suggested that I live on campus.
Plus...I have a question. How many people buys a safe or whatever and lock up their laptops and personal expensive items?
----edit----
Forgot to add that I'm a girl.

Anyone here taken Japanese? I have to take a placement test on Monday even though i took a year of Japanese before transferring, and i have no idea what to study for. I'd like to place in the highest level i can to cut down on classes, since I'm considering a Japanese minor.

About the laptop locks, unless you're really paranoid about getting your stuff stolen then go ahead. But, people shouldn't be that mean, lol. I leave my mp3 player out, my laptop out, my wireless headphones out, expensive cologne out, my shades out, everything out in the open. My roommate's the same too. He leaves all his valuables out. It's just that we respect each other enough to keep our hands to ourselves.
Are you a freshmen or transfer student going into CV?
I guess I'll be seeing you around in Fall Quarter then

I don't know many people who have locks/safes.. my roommate from first year had one of those locks for her laptop, but she ended up getting too lazy locking/unlocking it. I don't think theft is a really big problem, but some strange things do happen.. like that robbery in Mesa this year. O_O"
yojimbo - you're lucky you get new students reserved for E109. I know so many people who are waitlisted & some couldn't even get onto the waitlist. @_@

Oh yeah about the lock thing. I'm not paranoid, but my dad is. He suggested that I lock up my stuff and I think it's just kind of weird.
I'm a transfer student going into CV. It's so hard to find a roommate. I really don't know a lot of people.

Yeah, I would think that I'd end up being too lazy to put stuff in and take stuff out. It's too much of a hassle.
Robbery....wow. haha

Oh how I wish I even knew the basics.
Hrm... what are those, by the way?

Then some conversion stuff like "how many inches is in 2ft" or "how many cm are in 1.5 m"
There was very little Chemistry stuff and by that I mean elements and reactions and stuff.
Oh and be sure to bring your UCI id to the test. I almost forgot mines last year

where did you take a year of japanese at?
if you took a year of japanese at another college, just review what you've learned. basic grammar, kanji, hiragana/katakana, vocab.
if you took a year of japanese at a junior college, that year is equivalent to 1 year of Highschool level japanese.
if you have only 1 year of japanese under your belt, you probably can't cut out too many classes =T

I took JPN 1 & 2 at Community college. My Vocab, Hiragana/Katakana, Grammar and Kanji recognition are pretty solid...However, I'm pretty crap at writing Kanji. If i have to write Kanji from memory, i'm gonna bomb hard.
Ringo, If you're looking for roommates, you could always try the Anteater forum over at Zotters.org, it's all UCI students, and you might find someone that matches your criteria.
tiffiexp: Yea, i did some research b4 hand and heard from students that these classes were in pretty high demand, so i decided to get them out the way now. If i had my way, i wouldn't be taking 2 upper division Bio classes in my 1st quarter, since i still gotta adjust from the semester system to the quarter system. Fingers crossed, it'll all work out.

the best advice i could give is to just review what you've learned in class. theres definitely a lot more kanji at UCI.
there sorta would be no point of skipping ahead w/o the kanji skills it'll just be harder later on in class. (you'll be expected to write kanji in compositions etc. not in the lower levels, but as you go along)

like our id number? Because I thought we don't get our actual uci id until the school year?

You can't submit your test without a student id.

government-issued photo ID card
Examples of government-issued photo ID are:
# A valid photo-bearing drivers license
# A photo-bearing DMV-issued identification card
# A photo-bearing military identification card
# A valid passport featuring a current photograph
# A valid Permanent Resident Card (commonly known as a Green Card) featuring a current
photograph.
I guess they changed it?
& YES. I don't have to take the Calculus placement :3

How difficult is it for an out of stater to get in, and get enough aid?
Thanks~

They're really not strict about it lol.
I used my old school ID since I lost my drivers license.
They just need to make sure you're who you are and not somebody else taking your placement exam.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll spend the time between now and then brushing up on my Kanji.
