Yeah, 203D means you'll be on the second floor, in suite 203, room D.
The philanthropy project is like a community service project or something... lalaloo can probably tell you more about it.

Ughhh, seriously. I was so annoyed on Saturday when people were FBing/texting me their room assignments. My dad kept going "It's only another few days" - but it feels like an eternity.

you don't even want to hear the end of it.
I'm also from norcal and it sux.
People get to go home on 3 day weekends and such, but you really can't because if you fly back you'll probably be wasting money on some airplane tickets.
And if you're from norcal and you didn't bring a car...... good luck.

so on the personal essay I just have to do well on that to get in? :X I know someone with a 3.4 GPA but they did pretty okay (better than me) on the SAT .. can they get in too?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~`EDITED~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I just checked my cumulative GPA and i found out that it was 3.90 O_O is that okay? the sad thing though is that I can't even get a 1600 T_T on the SAT...I wanted to go to UCI but I don't know if they'll accept me....I'm just really bad at taking tests...I hate the SAT's!!!
:/ Bad thing is, the 6 months after my permit begins once I'm down in Irvine. I realize I'm gonna HATE having to rely on others, but at this point, that's about all I can do.
You're the complete opposite of me. I had a pretty mediocre GPA weighted [3.6ish] but a high SAT score [over 2000]. Is your 3.9 weighted or unweighted? You still have at least another chance to retake the SAT, if you'd like. And if you haven't started your essays yet, I advise you to start now (: Get people who know you well to re-read & revise; seriously, that's one essay you DON'T want to be doing the night before (:
Have you ever thought of taking a stab at the ACTs?
Some people prefer the ACTs over the SATs.
I wish I had taken it. =(
You could just go to a community college instead for two years. It would save you and your family a ton of money because when you transfer to a UC, you are already a 3rd year, a junior. I think this is a easier way to get into UCI. I got in with an overall GPA of 3.3
Is it really going to be that bad?
I have my own car but my parents insist that I try it out without a car for the first quarter and if it's really that bad then I can bring the car with me.
I'll be bringing my bike&skateboard but I'll be living in Arroyo Vista + Work Study + Job at South Coast Plaza.
It's gonna be hard doing grocery shopping without a car, trust me. A person can only carry so much on themselves or on a bike.
ONE REASON WHY I DIDN'T BRING A BIKE:
They wouldn't let us ride on Ring Road which cuts us down to probably only 25% of the main campus of where we can actually ride bikes. We can only ride in the park and if they catch you on ring road, those annoying officers come up to you and give you a ticket. There are signs everywhere so if you're like "oops, I didn't know" they'll be like "tough luck pal. You're in university, you should at least be able to comprehend those signs."
another reason was because I saw 2 bikes in a head on collision with 1 skateboarder and a pedestrian. The skateboarder was my roommate and let's just say he wasn't able to walk back to the dorms on his own and we (3 guys) had to carry him back. Poor dude was gonna meet his gf that day for lunch too.
Right now, I have bought a total of $176.81 minus one book which only cost $4.95. According to the UCI online bookstore, it would had been a total of $244.35 if I had bought it all used from them or a total of $325.43 for all new.
I am just happy that I have save so much money.
P.S. I want to get my housing assignment already!! X0 Everybody is getting them and I haven't yet!! I do hope it arrive somewhere this week. The suspense, man!!
lol uhh you should write a really good essay and have strong extracurricular activities.. I think your gpa is solid. As for the SATs, try to improve your score to at least 1800...i got a 1670 the first time i took the SATs. I got into uci and all the other ucs i applied to with 1890.. not very high. You still have time to take it like twice.. [last one is in december] Take the ACT too. It's a lot easier. I didn't study and managed to do okay [29] the first time i took it.
Study for the SAT if you really want to get into UCI. but hey, i know someone who got a 1500 on the SAT and still got into Davis, so you really never know.. good luck :]
