The best way for me to get away from the Internet was to move my computer into my room (where I can't get Internet). It helped me enormously, since I would always being switching between homework and the Internet (constantly getting bothered by AIM too).

I think I've spent my summer wisely, although I wish I could have done more. If you're having trouble staying focused, I would suggest creating a schedule of things to do. After you've accomplished something, reward yourself with a movie, or maybe a few hours on the internet.

As for me, I think I've done a good amount of things. In the beginning I interned at a magazine for 150 hours and attended a Public Relations Society of America luncheon as a conclusion to my internship. I've also been going to SAT class every saturday morning from 10:00-2:30.

Concerning leisure, I've visited Las Vegas and Hollywood...I've gone out with my friends, etc. So my summer hasn't been a total failure. I do wish that I'd have studied more french though :T

I volunteered 160 hours or so for an adult daycare center. I had summer practices for flags. I worked weekends at my parents' store. I had flute lessons and started up piano again. I read tons of books which was my goal since I never read. I haven't done that much to prepare for college... eeks. but i'm doing that now like writing essays & stuff... and im going on college visits next week. I'm not sure if I spent my summer that wisely.. I could've probably done more. But it was ok. Glad that I got time to hang out with friends this summer though.

In terms of school activities, I haven't done all that much.

There's not much I need to do since I'm going into sophomore year. I buy a Princeton Review SAT book to study for PSAT, and I'm thinking of taking SAT at the end of sophomore/beginning of junior year.

Next summer I'll be busy though. Community Service, AP homework, Jobs, SAT. I just relaxed this summer before things get hectic. smile.gif

not at all.. i volunteer at a hospital every summer and so far i've only gone like three times when i'm supposed to go two times a week, WHOOOPS. i also planned to study for SATs and get started on those personal statements but i'm here replying on soompi haha.

so my summer isn't very productive.

i pretty much wasted my summer before college

what a bummer

also the fact that school starts really early for me on the 30th
i was supposed to go to the anguillas/florida this summer
but my best friend who was coming with us
got into a huge family problem and it's really bad for her
so i gotta wait it out, after all she is my best friend
but that literally destroyed my summer plans
because i wasn't thinking of getting a job or anything
but now im jobless with only a part time employment on saturdays
also my other friends are busy 24/7
so i didn't have much time to chill

but i exercised a lot with yoga
and i became so much better at it
and i'm getting along pretty well with my 1 month diet
so i guess it's not a WASTE

Do you remember the first time when you felt alive?

No I didn't spend my time wisely. I have yet to study for all the SAT and ACT stuff that I must retake. And truly decide on colleges. I'm all over the place. I feel so rushed now. I suck.

working 40 hours a week, deciding where to apply to college and visiting a couple places, practicing my instruments, and writing college essays. mostly productive, i guess. most of my summers've been spent studying at music camps or taking extra classes at summer school.
Hey, look! Finally a different signature after all these years!

AHHH reading about what all you guys did over summer made me feel so useless lol. I had to move to another state so it was impossible for me to take summer school or volunteer and stuff. What a bummer T__T
I feel so behind with college stuff

Hm... I went to summer school. Then I chilled with my friends and was just being lazy around the house watching tv and going on the computer. This week, I've been trying to finish all my summer assignments. I'm such a big procrastinator.

I worked on my AP summer assignments, I cleaned the house, I worked three times a week, I went shopping, I babysat my little sister, I hung out with my friends, I went on vacation & I went online. If you want to get away from the computer then you have to set your mind toward achieving a goal that you want done, such as studying for the SAT's for like two hours then reward yourself by going online at night. Do things during the day & surf the web at night. You can do so much things once you get away from the computer. Good luck (:
