hi,
sorry for opening a new topic, please don't hate :)

i really have no clue at all about the korean alternative/indie scene
i would appreciate it, if some of you who know their way around could recommend a few bands according to my taste

rock bands i like are:

(harder)
the mars volta (my favourite)
and you will know us by the trail of dead
blackmail
rage against the machine

(softer)
radiohead
sigur ros
portishead
massive attack

i also like some songs from Thee Michelle Gun Elephant, it's a japanese (indie-?)band you may also know

감사합니다

For yer softer side: most of the bands on Pastel Records, especially 푸른새벽 (bluedawn) and 해파리소년 (Jelly Boy). Not on Pastel but also awesome are소규모 아카시아 밴드 (Sogyumo Acacia Band). Maybe the single from Dye if you want to try some downtempo trip-hop/electronic. Kinda old but 전자양 (a.k.a. dencihinji) is still one of the best ever Korean lo-fi albums... That's a start.

Harder stuff I dunno, I only listen to wimpy music these days.

Good luck!

That is one long band name. Sorry, but I can't really help you there. Don't know any of the bands you mentioned.

If you had the same tastes as me, I'd recommend The TRAX, if you're looking for a Korean band. But ..
they've become more poppish! Yeah. Sorry about that. I'd help if I could. blush.gif

I only know RadioHead in you list xD.

Harder:
-Hammer (someone nice send their album to me ^^)
-Holymarsh (Death metal ?)
-Ares
Just 3 I know because I dont give much attention to indie rock.

Softer:
-Sweetpea
-Butterfly Effect
-Brunch
-Abridge
-Nell
-My Aunt Mary (Their 2nd album is more pop and no wonder its title is "Just Pop")

Non rock:
-Some groups you can see in this section like Humming Urban Stereo, Where the story ends, etc.
-Yellow Kitchen
-Roller Coaster
-Jamiroquai
-Windy City
-Daytripper

These groups are my favorite.

Since most of threads in this section are about rock/hiphop, I feel scared and awfully hesitate to start a new one T__T. I know just a little about indie rock ^^.

thanks for your recommendations!

indieROK, i gave all the bands you mentioned a listen
my first impressions were as follows:

푸른새벽: really good, beautiful voice, will try to get hold of an album

소규모 아카시아 밴드 and Dye: not bad, will try to look for some more

전자양 and 해파리소년: didn't really strike me

but well, what can you say after only a few listens, most "good" music takes a while to get used to.

as for the other recommendations, i will listen to them when i got more time~!

---

"...and you will know us for the trail of dead" is a (pretty unique) band name yes, you can check them out here: http://music.msn.com/artist/?artist=16330123
listen to "will you smile again for me" or "another morning stoner" to get a first impression.

and for those who said you don't know any of the bands i mentioned, you should check them out if you got time tongue.gif especially "The Mars Volta" (eargasm guaranteed)

Pastel Music puts out good background music, but I've seen a lot of their bands play, and none of them really know how to put on a performance.

Judging by your tastes, I'd recommend Hollow Jan to you.

I'm just gonna add to the recs: Peterpan Complex and Huckleberry Finn (who I actually don't know too much about. At all.)

And also, I love Mars Volta more than life. For serious. ph34r.gif
