Forgot to answer the orginal poster's question. You can fit about 40 minutes on one CD in VCD format. 20 minutes on one CD in SVCD format. About 5 hours maximum on one DVD. Video disks seem to be more time based than anything.
Second poster's question. For DVDs you can set the quality profiles. Winavi and stuff doesn't really let you adjust the quality. But Nero and ConvertXtoDVD does. Maximum quality is 2 hours on one DVD. Long Play is about 5 hours.
So are you trying to burn things as VCDs or DVDs?
If you have Nero, this is a wonderful guide on how to burn a DVD with multiple episodes. http://www.koreandramas.net/topic_615.html
You can also use Nero's Nero Vision to make VCDs as well.
I like to use Winavi to convert videos to VCDs and ConvertXtoDVD to make DVDs though... but I don't particularily like the Nero convertor which is why I would use those other programs.

i tried using winavi converter before but the quality is not the same with the raw video.... as i posted in another topic the sound of video doesnt come out of virtualdubmod and you said it takes so much space.. i tried ancoding the video with mainconcept mpeg encoder. it did great and the quality is still the same. the only problem is it has a smallwatermark that says mainconcept on the upper left corner... can you suggest any FREE video encoders that also gives the same quality as the raw video? thanks so much!
