Christophe Willem: winner of the Last Pop Idol, his album is really good for a first album
Tété: My favorite french singer, good folk guitarist to hell... He writes all the lyrics ( really beautiful, full of sensitivity, he write in a really beautiful french) and composes all the music. I think he's AN artist far from the s*** of French Pop (Matt Pokora, Kyo, Leslie, Shy'm, Willie Denzey, Tragedie and the list is very long ^^ French copy everything which comes from America... Look at Matt Pokora, look at Justin Timberlake, u'll see... ^^)
Camille: Strange girl but her last record "le fil" is really interesting... The record begins, continues and finishes on the same sound in background... she's full of ideas for music
Emilie Simon: Her last album is a concept around the plants and the vegetal world... She creates some characters who appears in the songs, a flower who is talking, a old guy etc etc
Superbus: Really influenced by No doubt, this band has made really good songs and remains a reference for people who listens rock music especially the record Aeromusical. It's simple and really efficient... Really light and easy to understand
Amel Bent: This girl has really excellent voice skill... I think she's good singer and the way she sings is really moving.
Anggun: This girl is full of charm, i think and all the songs of her which were at the radio were really good. Simple lyrics good for people who are learning french
Phillipe Katerine: This guy is just really crazy... But really famous in France for the song "J'adore le luxor" with the big "J'adoreeeeeeeeeee" which means "I loveeeeeeeeeeeee" in French. On his record "Robots après tous", we can see him posing in pink sweat and grey undie, kinda ridiculous but really fun.
Natasha Saint Pierre: Canadian singers, really classic in France... All the canadian singers in France have powerful and really good voice. Tu trouveras is good. Also canadian, Isabelle Boulay, Lara Fabian, Daniel Lavoie, Garou... Those products are made for the people who are fascinated by good technic voices. U can also add Chimène Badi who is French born arab girl who have sold 2 millions record in France.
Vanessa Paradis: Kinda old school, but "Joe le Taxi" is still sooooooo cuteeeeeeeee to hell... So cute that a vietnamese singer made a remake. And some of her songs were composed by Lenny Kravitz! (he was her ex boifriend, in the album with "Tandem" songs i can't remember the title of the record)
Olivia Ruiz: Also coming from a real tv show, she has changed her image and she's really appreciate for her talents more than her presence on TV.
Corneille: Canadian boy who have made a really good impression in France. Actually I like this guy but we hear his songs to much until sickness.
Yelle: Really funny song "Je veux te voir" kinda vulgar but really funny to listen if u understand the lyrics (ask them!)
Listen also the French Hip Hop, u won't be deceived, really easy to understand (Rappers in France are not famous for their writting skills) and u'll learn a lot of slang used by yound French guys and girls. Even if thy really copy the American rappers like Snoop or 50 cents. Diam's, Rhoff and NTM are higly recommanded.
If u need translation of lyrics, mail me, i'll do it. I hope i'll have helped all the people who are interested in French music

Hello, God! in few wordsthere's something in this world that's more painful than death, it's letting you go.... should i ask you to wait until i can get into your heart? i think i can buy everything in this world if i had enough money, but i can't buy time.... how can i win when he's already taken possession of your heart ?

And search for sarah, Je cours, le chemin, je Saigne encore (in you tube)
thanks for sharing, wow that song rocks
I already knew the band by name but I never thought of listening to their music up till now
And yeah,I also agree with Emilie Simon -Fleur de Saison , and imo Desert sound really good as well
I also agree with Anggun , I love cesse la pluie, it's my fave song of her.
And I also really like Être une femme and Garde Moi ..
Ohwell I like all songs of Emilie Simon and Anggun actually
I also just love Nadiya (feat. Smartzee) - Et c'est parti ..
Oh and I also really like K' Maro - Femme Like U, Manau - La Tribu de Dana
And for me Alizée - Moi Lolita also stays classic ( I like that one aswell)..
Aggun -Ce'est la pluie, Alizée - Moi Lolita, Nadiya (feat. Smartzee) - Et c'est parti, K' Maro - Femme Like U and Manau - La Tribu de Dana were also aired here in The Netherlands on the music channels btw
And god there was this other French song, I remember from my youth, it was a really nice song but I don't know the name, song or lyrics >_<;..(lol my former French teacher even sung it while walking through the school, but heck I suck at writing down french words when people pronounce them *was never good at listenings tests in french class *) Hmm all I can see it was a hit here in Holland and it sounded sorta like transmusic ..

wow I actually recognize that song O_o;.. Hmm but dunno wether that one was also aired here in Holland or not though XD..

some songs are:
"Au port"
"Ta douleur"
"1, 2, 3"
"Pour que L'amour me quitte"
she has a pretty unique sound..
WOOT! I am glad someone else likes her, well I hope you like her. I have both her CDs. She combines Chanson with other forms of music including beatboxing and mouth music. She's a credit to creativity.
I also recommend stuff by Keren Ann, Axelle Red, Natasha St. Pier. There are some fun songs by Serge Gainsbourg. I also like hip hop from I AM, Shurik'n, MC Solaar.... etc
