So I was driving on the freeway going home.. going at speed limit, and then this car behind me drives really close to me and then high beams me for like 3 seconds o__o.. and then he/she changes lanes and speeds past me. o__O

so I'm there confused. What does that usually mean?
The car was an expensive-looking black Jaguar, btw. o__o

thanks! biggrin.gif

edit: I was in one of the right lanes. o___o..

most likely means he feels that you're going too slow, especially if he tailgated you too.

Which lane were you in?

A lot of people think that if they're in the left lane, they can drive faster than everyone else.

I just stay in the lanes where traffic is moving at speed limit unless I want to go fast myself.

From your description of what happened, I would bet that he wanted you to switch out of that lane. From where I am from a quick high beam to indicate "move over" is legal, but not many people do it, and not many people know about it.

It can also mean that your headlights are not on, and that they wanna kick your butt.

I agree, and I think they are entiled to go fast as they want. If they want to risk a ticket, they should be allowed to drive as fast as they want and then pay the maximum penalty. I'm not the one to judge how fast they can or cannot go. I am not the police. =D

Be a dear, and if someone is high beaming you and you are in the left or middle lane, move on over.

I thought the passing lane was the left lane, so if people tailgate you and highbeam you in the middle lane, they are being slutty.

bah humbug. the left lane is... reserved for who can go the fastest. I rarely highbeam people, i did that like.. 3 times and each time i got the finger. I just slow down and look for openings and pass by.

what if the cars are at a traffic light? when there's a red light, i sometimes see cars beam their headlights on and off. i did it myself once while waiting at a light and the car across from me on the other side of the road did the same thing, and then the car next to him did the same. i felt like we were all greeting each other but that would be silly, i guess.

I only high beam for these reasons.
1) i high beam cars at night who forget to turn on their lights.
2) i high beam oncoming traffic to warn them about cops up ahead of their road (common courtesy)
3) i high beam people who forget to turn off their signal lights (sometimes i don't care and just like to watch them being retards).

yeah... if someone in the oncomming direction high beams you and you have your head lights on, it USUALLY means cops are up ahead.

if ppl high beam at an intersection, i think they are trying to make the red light turn green. my roomate told me cops have REALLLLY high and BRIGHT highbeams and when they do this to redlights, the senors go off and turn the traffic light green.

i do'nt see why people just take the time to actually turn the steering wheel to move in front of the person ahead of them instead of high beaming.
