It's sort of the same thing you'd write for college. It shouldn't be a list of reasons why you want to go to law school, but it's pretty standard to write about some experience you had in the past and how it relates to your desire to be a lawyer. It should also focus on just one particular story or experience, not list all of your activities.
If you want a book about law school itself, you should get "One-L" by Scott Turow.

Yep. Plenty of IR majors go to law school.

they're worried, concerned, and upset. they think that a literature major (which at my school is a combined english, writing, literature major because there is no separate english major) is "fluffy", but I think it's hard work and an enriching experience..

(I do have the two Powerscore Logic Bibles)
Does anyone know which company is the best (TestMaster, Princeton Review, Kaplan...)? They all sound the same, but is there one that is especially recommended for some reason?
Thanks so much!

What do they think you should major in? Plenty of literature majors go to law school. Fully 11% of the current 1L class here at Columbia majored in literature or English:

Show that to your parents.

but i was just wondering
would a major in journalism help me prepare for law school?
i know you can major in anything and still apply
but i was just wondering if there are people that do this
considering that there is no percentage on the columbia law school profile breakdown

Getting a master's generally doesn't help your chances. Plenty of people have them, so it doesn't really set you apart. It would probably just be a waste of time and money if your only purpose in getting the degree was to help your chances.
what kind of degree should we get then?
also, im an international studies major and im planning to transfer to georgetown or uva. is that okay?

It's not a very common major. I don't personally know any journalism majors who went to law school (come to think of it, I don't think I know any journalism majors at all). It's probably not the best thing to major in if you're thinking about law school. And it's not even necessary if you want to be a journalist.

You just need a bachelor's. There's no problem with transferring.

I'm curious as to why Pre-law and Criminal Justice are.. 'frowned upon' by law schools?
Israel is FAR from innocent.
The true terrorists.
Free Palestine!

As I've mentioned, they're just not seen as very intellectual or rigorous majors. Virtually none of the top undergrads (from which top law schools take most of their students) even offer a "pre-law" or criminal justice major.
Don't worry about taking classes that are related to law. It sounds like what you're taking is fine. I don't really know how majors work in community college; would you be able to switch once you transferred? Majoring in English wouldn't be a problem, if you can't major in poli sci. The best thing you can do is make sure you do really well at UW, because, while your CC grades will count towards your LSADS GPA, schools will probably pay more attention to the grades you get at UW. If you do well there and on the LSAT, having gone to a community college probably won't hurt you at all.

i was just wondering what is the average LSAT score?? I know to get into Columbia you obviously scored in the high 160s-170s but still...
I know 180 is the highest you can get... but what would be the average that people get overall??
and i know this is a personal quesiton... but what other law schools did you apply to besides columbia?
THANK YOU!

To get into Columbia you want a 3.4+ gpa and a 170+ LSAT. Look at the website and search the school. Basically study hard. You taking it in June?
