Hey guys. I'll be a junior at UCSB this upcoming fall (Film Studies Major). I'd been thinking about adding on a minor, but do you guys think the work load would be too much? Esp. if I'm planning to work a min. of 20 hours per week?

Does anybody here attend UCSB or another California UC? What's your take on adding a minor?

i think i gave u sb advice somewhere else.

anyhow, figure it out once you get there. i guarantee you'll find that you enjoy a variety of disciplines that you've never had background in.

just bc you have an interest in something though, does not mean that becomes your major/minor... you have to complete the pre-major/minor courses...and in the process of doing that, you may just find out that it's not the one for you! wow shocker there

take a variety of classes just for GE's sake, and you should be able to gauge the difficulty/load depending on the specific minor you have in mind.

My friend's sister is a professor at UCSB.

I forgot her sister's last name because her filipino last name and her husband's japanese last name was hyphenated so it was really long, but she teaches pop culture.

I don't know if you can minor in it, but you should take it if you haven't, my friend's sister has done quite a few documentaries mainly on asian americans though.

I'm thinking about applying to UCSB but I'm not sure yet because I heard a lot of UC schools have crowded classrooms

Agreed us Freshman need each other.... Bio & Business double Major, plus a minor in journalism
I think it'll be a little hard... BUT if your up for the challenge go for it.... At least you know what you want to major in.... poor me...

It depends how dedicated you are and how much you think it will help you in the future. To double major with a minor.. it depends on how many relevant units you are coming in with, but it looks like you will be 16units+ and summer school every quarter hehe. I was thinking about doing something like that, but in my case I think I'd rather just have one major and get some work experience, study abroad. So it depends on the person.
