New Digi Cam advice?

Currently I'm searching for a good, compact, digi that takes decent/good to great pictures. I'm seriously considering the Canon Powershot SD600 ( tho i heard it doesnt display battery life...major con! ) but are there any other recommendations? I'm willing to spend $300 on it because I want it to last..it'll most likely be used for random/ fun pic taking...

i want to order it in the next week or so...

I have the powershot sd600. I like it, some little quirks like a crappy zoom and you have to be AMAZINGLY PERFECTLY STILL to take good pics in manual mode. A lot of cool options, and the display screen is awesome.

my dad went to korea yesterday, and i acutally asked him to buy me a digicam from there. the Samsung Digimax i6 ! from the reviews, it sounds awesome.

but , right now i have the wakian camera, the one featured in goong. i honestly don't reccommend it.

i've heard good things about canon.

I say Canon Powershot A620. 7.1 Megapixels.

Looks sexy in my opinion. haha Not sure how much it is tho.

i had canon powershot before and i didn't like it.
canon is probably better than sony but i like the designs of cybershot better~ hahaha
