a good debate versus the ninja zx6r vs the cbr600rr. i don't know crap about motorcycles so i am deducing by looks alone.

hell, i'd rather pick the katana 250cc. :x

I want a freakin' CBR! I keep pestering my parents to let me have one, but they think that once I get on one, I'll fall off and get hurt.

But my dad is slowly considering it...hehe, lol.

I'd love a black CBR.

I'll get one when I'm 18.

interesting choice of a picture for the cbr600 haha. you posted a picture where the headlights, mirrors, blinkers and backseat aren't even there. here's a picture of a stock cbr600 with everything on it. haha.

anyways, i've ridden bikes since i was 16 almost turning 19 so i guess i can call that 2-3 years. although if you add up all the time i've actually ridden it's only about 1 full year since there's only about 3-4 months of riding season here in new england. yarg oh well.
IPB Image

anyways, the bike that i'd been oogling over had been the cbr600 for the longest time but every time i sit on it i feel that it's too tall for me (i'm only 5'5) and i've been to naults honda where they had a lowered cbr on display and it just looks so miniaturized next to the normal bikes and i've seen a bike or two that have been lowered on the streets and well it looks kinda noticeably smaller and it just looks so awkward to me. even though technically the bike isn't any smaller it's just lower, it just looks smaller (if you know what i mean). well anyways i ended up getting a gixxer 6 since the ergonomics of that thing are well more tailored to my height. the seats more narrow so that means that my legs stand closer together making me able to stand without being uncomfortable on my tippy toes like on the cbr. so yea i settled for a gixxer 6 but i'm still happy because i've wanted a 600 for a while and i finally decided on a bike. word i'm so happy.

The CBR600rr has a stock ride seat ht of 32.3" so it's about average with the ZX6R and Daytona 675. the GSXR is a bit lower at 31.9" and the R6 is the tallest at 33.5". Lucky for me I dont have trouble mounting on any of the bikes cuz Im 5'8 and have boots that give me an extra 1". My current bike is a '91 FZR 600 but in a year or so I'm gona go ahead and get a GSXR =) Oh and do u believe my FZR is actually heavier than all those '06 bikes these days? It's got a wet weight of 458lbs! as opposed to the other bikes being around 414-438lbs. Crazy o__O

^ yea bikes are getting lighter and lighter every year. every year they're trying to cut weight here and there because well the lighter it is the faster it goes (well relatively speaking). which is why yamaha and suzuki are far more popular than the heavier zx6r and cbr600rr (due in part mostly to the undertail exchaust) i personally love the look of the undertail exhausts but eh i i'm too short to ride a cbr600rr without lowering it, but it's better in the end anyways since i'm not really stronger than the average girl. so less pounds means easier riding biggrin.gif

i think this is just a poll of 600's (even though technically the zx6r is kinda cheating with 636cc but eh whatever it looks the same as the zx6rr) so the mv augusta f4's aren't even in the poll

but i admit they are a beauty. i think italian bikes are really sexy. but i'll always stick with my japanese bikes.

Oh so you're a girl rider eh? All this time I thought you were a guy hah. Anyway there's many things you can do to the CBR in order for you to ride on it. Its really not THAT tall. Shave the seats, aftermarket suspension, taller boots would be just a few things you could do.

haha everyone always thinks i'm a guy just from looking at my sn. will post pics up when i get my bike. going to pick it up on tuesday. yay happy.gif.

well my dad is the one that is buying the bike and well i'm trying to use the least amount of money as possible well the least of his money. (i'm not spoiled blink.gif i'm paying for insurance and college) which is why i didn't get one until recently since all the dealerships are trying to get rid of their bikes. a lot of the bikes i saw were marked down by $1,000 including the gixxer 6 and i'm happy with getting the gixxer since i'm sure it'll be easier to ride since it's not as chunky as the cbr600rr. i normally just wear jordans or dunks when i'm riding and well the jordans i have already add about an inch and that's about as much as i'm going to get from any sneaker. i've sat on a lot of bikes and i feel the most comfortable on the gixxer.

now i'm debating on whether or not to get a new helmet. i guess i could just continue to wear my old hjc helmet but i want an arai.

out of those bikes the GSXR actually has the poorest performance (though not by TOO much), so its the most forgiving bike in that sense. It is also a short bike, about the height of my fizzer but lighter. And as for you wearing jordans. DONT lol. Last thing you want is for your foot to be dangling off your leg with bone sticking out. Wear boots, and well protected ones at that. ANKLE PROTECTION! Ok thats all =) Ride safe! and remember the bike owns you ph34r.gif

yea the sneakers i wear when riding all cover my ankle bone. i guess it's not really much protection but i'm not a fan of the whole full on riding boots even though they are safer.
IPB Image
i guess i'm not really all that safe since when it gets impossibly hot I opt out of wearing my jacket too. ph34r.gif i even had one of those mesh jackets to try to keep me cooler but it's still crazy hot.

but i'm still better than the people in new hampshire. half those people don't even wear helmets since it's not required by law i guess. I can't even imagine riding without a helmet.

i'm not really sure in what way you're saying that the gixxer has the poorest performance. do you mean track wise? because from what i know gixxers have a much better low end torque than the cbrs. however, cbrs are a lot better for the track since they have a much better top end which is probably why you never see any suzukis winning the gp. but gixxers are pretty good street bikes.

There was a test of these bikes in the latest "Motorcyclist" magazine showing every aspect of performance from these bikes including acceleration, top speed, track performance, etc and the Gixxer happened to do the poorest.
