i'm going to try to establish residency so i will have to either work 30+hrs outside of school OR take LESS than 6 credits a quarter. if i take more than 6, i will have to work more than 30hrs a week. i might be coming in with 10-20 credits from AP courses that i hope count toward GEs.. i'm not sure though, because one of them is biology and i have to take a different biology class for pre-med reqs.
does taking less than 6 credits a quarter seem plausible if i take summer quarter next year? do they give dorming during summer quarter?
i really can't afford outofstate tuition all 4 years
also, how are pre-med ppl? do they actually try to help each other? and are teachers helpful or just.. mean? haha. especially for science courses cause most of my classes will probably be those.
thanks you guysss i hope this works out for me! i really wanna go to uw

Anyways, if you're taking less than six credits a quarter, you are going to fall behind really quickly as a typical quarter has around 16 credits. Getting 30+ hours with a full course load is hard, but doable. If you want an on campus job, you'll need to find a "temp" position through UW Hires and not a typical a typical student assignment because students can only work 19.5 hours maximum per week.
For the best balance, I'd try to work around 25 hour during the work week and cap it off over the weekend.
I handle much of the hiring process for the department I work for, so if you have any other questions.

A job through UW Hires counts a normal job, thus it is not a work study position. Any money you make through a normal job will count towards your overall assets (thus impacting your overall financial aid status), whereas in a work study position the money you earn doesn't count towards your overall assets. Consequently, the more overall assets you have, the less financial aid you can get.

Haha, thanks for caring. You won't find me long boarding ever.
Yeah, all the greek events were canceled yesterday. They say he wasn't drunk, he was studying for his midterms and took a break to get some food by himself. He didn't see the bus, ran into it, slid under the bus, and the bus ran him over. Sucks...
