going fall 2007! finally, high schools almost over!
advice please: should i take the placement tests for lang. and math?
does it matter if you go to orientation earlier in the summer or not to get better classes that dont start before 9am?
haha welcome =) UW is a nice school

i'd recommend taking the placement test if you've already taken a language during high school and u think u're pretty good with the basics.... i took the placement test for japanese and got placed in 113 so i didn't have to take two quarters of japanese (saves money and time!)... the only problem is that the way (and maybe things) they teach in high school might be a little different from college (in ways they cover it, u may have learned it or might not have)... so if u're a bit shaking on ur foundations, u should start again but i think they require u to take the placement test if u've taken a language in high school that u plan on taking in college
i didn't take the math placement nor am planning to take math so it doesn't apply to me. but i think it'd be the same concept, if u want to be placed at a level where u aren't just reviewing the whole quarter, take the placement test... it's not so bad...
i took my orientation in mid july so i got the classes i wanted... but i think they actually reserve like half of the spaces from each class so that later freshmen can register.... (don't quote me on that one though)
btw, i'd recommend going to the dawg daze week... (at the end of the summer).... it's just basically one giant orientation with a bunch of workshops and everything so u can try things out... and it's a lot of fun!
