Thanks! Hmm...so Steven's Court is an apartment? Interesting. They're still letting freshmen apply there apparently.

yepyep, they'll let you apply, but nothing'll happen until you're 19. haha.

Just wondering, not to hijack this thread, but I might be going to richland and was wondering what it was like there in washington? Any life?

haha it's a rediculous amount of reading. about a chapter every 2 days, and a novel. but the first couple of weeks is the most reading, after that, he said, it should get a bit easier

If a similar event like in vt happens at uw. 2nd floor ougl would likely be the place, it's always crowded and there is only 1 exits.

advice please: should i take the placement tests for lang. and math?
does it matter if you go to orientation earlier in the summer or not to get better classes that dont start before 9am?

haha welcome =) UW is a nice school happy.gif

i'd recommend taking the placement test if you've already taken a language during high school and u think u're pretty good with the basics.... i took the placement test for japanese and got placed in 113 so i didn't have to take two quarters of japanese (saves money and time!)... the only problem is that the way (and maybe things) they teach in high school might be a little different from college (in ways they cover it, u may have learned it or might not have)... so if u're a bit shaking on ur foundations, u should start again but i think they require u to take the placement test if u've taken a language in high school that u plan on taking in college mellow.gif

i didn't take the math placement nor am planning to take math so it doesn't apply to me. but i think it'd be the same concept, if u want to be placed at a level where u aren't just reviewing the whole quarter, take the placement test... it's not so bad...

i took my orientation in mid july so i got the classes i wanted... but i think they actually reserve like half of the spaces from each class so that later freshmen can register.... (don't quote me on that one though)

btw, i'd recommend going to the dawg daze week... (at the end of the summer).... it's just basically one giant orientation with a bunch of workshops and everything so u can try things out... and it's a lot of fun!

ya.. u should... LOL... even if u place high, u'll know that u have the opportunity to take more classes, u know? and it'll give u a good idea with math and how much of it u want to do...

start orientation earlier in the summer, u'll definately get all the classes u want (alot of classes are open ONLY for freshmens during autumn quarter, and the earlier, the more the classes are open!... and hey, early classes arent that bad~ just make sure ur schedule doesnt suck with like an 8:30 am class and then the next one is @ 4:30 pm or osmething.. cuz that kinda sucks

Yea, taking the placements tests are good, but you don't have to take the math placement test if you took the ap calc test and did ok on it. I forgot what scores you had to have to get into which class.. but you can check online! xD

Take your placement tests now while you still remember stuff from highschool. I waited until sophomore year to take it and didn't know how to solve the simplest problems.
