I guess what I'm asking is, if any of you applied as a transfer, how long did it take to get your acceptance letter?
I'm a transfer student. I applied December 07 for Spring 08. I got my letter in roughly 2 months (February). They froze spring admissions a few weeks ago. The budget cuts are pretty bad.

So ubberly excited!
and I've been wondering...
I heard that Seattle is really beautiful, but the weather is so gloomy everyday that people get depressed really easily :[
I'll be flying all the way from georgia and I don't have any relatives living in washington so...yeah kinda worried

Oh no worries; the most common thing I hear about Washington is, "People are so nice here." So it's pretty easy to make friends of all colors, shapes, sexes etc.
The weather is a bit depressing in the winter time since it rains a bit, and the weather is on the cold side. But it's really nice in the spring, summer and beginning of fall time when it isn't so cold and gloomy.

During period 1, you can only register up to 17. Then you have to wait till Period 3 to get that last class. Hope that helps!
My 20 credit quarter is almost over!! Slowly dying haha, but the weather is great!

Wish I could respond to the posts above me but hopefully bumping this will have another Husky who does know take a look and respond.
A month from now, Wong Fu Productions will be performing at the campus union building auditorium.

Good luck on finals everyone.

I had a bunch of people in the honors program on my floor last year; I occasionally tutored them. The material isn't all that much different from the regular classes, just a lot more proofing that normal and much more accelerated. Instead of having to take sequences in separate classes, they get lumped together and you do them pretty quick.
Such as normally you do MATH 307, MATH 308 and MATH 324 etc. Each is a separate quarter, but in honors you may cover these topics in a quarter.
Other than that, it's a bit more work. It may help or hinder in getting into a department depending how well you do in the classes.
There's no honors classes once you get into a department. Say College of Engineering, there's no honors classes. Same for like Biochemistry, etc.
*though* Alternatively, I think this is a better route --> Research + Regular Classes. Maintaining a high GPA + having a lot of research is really good. Much better than just having honors imo.

The weather really isn't all that bad. You know it rains more in New York and Miami? Seattle rain is probably just more spread out.

I got accepted this year as an international freshman. Around late January. So did one of my friends. Don't worry, another wave of letters should soon come.
Anyways, I have a question. Which dorm would be the best for a freshman?
I've been looking into Terry, Lander, or McMahon. I know Terry and Lander are the best freshman dorms, but I heard McMahon was the best overall dorm.
Right now, I'm leaning towards Terry, but I'm not sure. Is there really that big of a difference in distance to main campus???
Thanks.

McMahon is actually on the main campus but way in the northern part....Terry is close to campus too but off by 2 blocks (I actually live in an apt near here... the walk is not bad at all)
I guess it depends on where you take classes... if you happen to have classes in the northern portion of the campus, then McMahon might be better (generally as freshmen, you'll be very likely to have class in Kane... and you'd want to go to Odegaard often...distance to those places from McMahon and Terry are about the same...)
the pro of being at McMahon is that it's a nicer dorm...
the pro of being at Terry is that you'll be a lot closer to the Ave... where all the restaurants are and everything... you'll probably want to go there after you get sick of dorm food... haha
i've never stayed in a dorm tho so i'm just thinking about the convenience of the location... i'd probably choose terry tho because i like a variety of food and i'd be really annoyed having to walk from mcmahon to the ave...

Hmmm ... I see. So, since the distance is generally the same, would it be better to be at Terry because of it's underclassman community?
Oh yeah, and UW killed Mississippi State today!
