well im trying to get a LiteOn 16x Dual Layer DVD±RW IDE Drive because i want to burn my video files in to a dvd rom so i can watch it from my tv. i know that you have to convert the video (mpeg or avi) into a dvd file. does anybody know how long it will take for a 700mb video file to convert into a dvd file? and also how long is the actual burning time?

thank you for your help.

it really depends..on what program you are using to encode the file into dvd format. You pretty much have the same computer specs as me. I use ...WINAVI.......and it encodes my 700mb files in about 20-30 minutes. I just bought a new dvd burner too "LG".....and it burns the dvd in about....7-8 minutes at 16X. Those are just estimated times...yours could vary depending on the programs you have and...dvd burner you have.

Hm. It would take my 2.7Ghz Celeron (Not D), almost an hour or a good 45 minutes to convert a 700MB file off Clubbox. I only had a 512 stick though.

Sigged for life.

Depending on the bitrate you want to go with (audio and video) it'll affect the overall conversion time.

As for burn times, 16 should be around 4-5mins.
