I set my recording sound as playback few weeks ago where it records whatever you would hear coming out from your speakers. Well, I now want to use the microphone to record sounds and not from my soundcard, you know? I tried switching back to my microphone and I can't get it to work like in the past. It's still recording by whatever plays on my soundcard and not from my mic. (Sorry if this doesn't make sense?) Anybody mind to tell me how to fix this problem? Thanks.

Wrong section. Troubleshooting and help section is where this belongs.



Either double click on the sound icon in the lower right corner of your screen (in which case the "mixer" program may look different from the picture above depending on what program you have)... or go to Start > Settings > Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices > Audio tab > under Sound Recording, click Volume in which case you SHOULD see that same exact program.

Make sure you're under Recording Control and NOT Playback Control. Select the Microphone instead of "What U Hear".

In the unlikely event that the above fix still doesn't work... then the "source" recorder setting is within your recording program. You will have to change it from there.
