Is anyone attending the NYLC or CYLC Leadership Conference that's held in Washington D.C. this fall? If you are, please tell me! I don't want to be alone... >< If you have already attended it, could you please tell me your experience? I'm trying to remember all the world events so that I'm prepared for it.
Thanks!

Most people that go arive there alone knowing nobody. It's much better that way. If everybody knew eachother there would be pre-formed cliques already. The fact that you don't know one another makes meeting new people easier because they're in the same situation as you are. You'll be fine.
BTW, you don't really need to know like anything. All that preparation they told you to do was never mentioned there.

Very true. It's better that nobody knows anyone else. More chances to make friends.
I chose not to go to this program, but the NYLF on Medicine one, and they also told you to prepare by studying current issues. But it wasn't really used. If you go into the program without knowing anything, they won't kill you.

This one's legit... I went to it.
It is much more fun if you don't know anyone there, you get the opportunity to make some new friends....
However, you'd be surprised how soon the exact same cliques you see at school and stuff are formed there.. It's like those groups of people just attract each other or something............
And you don't really need to "prepare", but if you insist:
Know the name of your senators and your congressman and just brush up on current events.. they usually each the rest when u get there.
Have fun!

i went to a program like that, and the best part about it was that you could make new friends by just going up and talking to whoever you wanted! remember, y'all are in the same situation; u don't know anybody. so relax, and just enjoy! i ended up making some amazing friends there!

I dont think the invitations are exclusive, since so many people get them. Anyway, I dont see the point in spending several thousand dollars for one week of going to Washington to meet some new people.
