I just reformatted my computer, and I don't have the CDs for soundcard/videocard? The first problem is that my monitor's resolution won't move up from 16bit, 640x480. It's so big, it's a total pain in the ass. I'm not sure what to do, now.

The second problem is the sound. There is no sound coming out, which is likely because my sound card drivers blah blah.. I fixed it the last time I reformatted (about 2 years ago) but now I forgot everything & I dunno what to do.


I have Windows XP.. if you need more info, please tell me and I'll provide it asap. I really need help!

under multimedia, it says that i have Unimodem Half-Duplex Audio Device

Try Sisoft Sandra. Install it, run it then see if the program can identify the brand and model of both your sound card and video card. I'm not sure if it'll correctly detect your sound and video cards without drivers installed but it's worth a shot. You want to run the "Video System Information" and the "Sound Card Information" modules. Hopefully you can report back with the brand and model of each. Then it's as simple as googling for the drivers.
