I have never ripped a dvd in my entire life and I tried to look for THE program but I can't seem to find a free one. I want to rip a movie to .wma, is there a free and easy program out there? I need to convert it into a relatively small file to fit onto my iriver U10.
I guess I would need a dvd ripper and a converting program?
Thanks in advancee

im just here to give you a heads up about dvd and wma format. dvd data on the dvd disc has seperate audio and video sources, which combine when played on a dvd player. wma is an audio format, it will not display video, but i think you know that. SO, since you want to copy to wma means you just want audio from the dvd, you can get programs to record sound from your computer. Im sure someone could provide you with one.

thanks for the reply, i realised i misread the instruction booklet, i guess i need to convert files to .avi. i've been using dvd rip and dvd shrink to rip my movies onto my computer but i can't seem to skip through the movie, I hope that made sense.
I have the program called WINAVI but I can't seem to convert my ripped dvd files to .avi. Am I missing out on a step? Let's say I saved all those files ripped from the dvd, which option should I pick when it comes to converting those files to .avi.
I didn't realise it would be THIS troublesome.
