I heard that colleges love to see 3 years of language to know that you are dedicated. But i quite Chinese class after 2 years, so i plan to take the SAT II chinese. If your schedule next year is too full, i think colleges will understand that. If you've aced that class, you should give the SAT II a try. If you score a perfect score, it will impress the colleges even more...

Three years is definitely better than two for applying to most places, and some places even recommend 4+ of the same language. However, if there's a legitimate reason why you can't fit it in then don't worry too much. What year are you going into? If you're going to be a senior then I guess it's too late unless you change your schedule to include French 3, but otherwise, maybe you can take French 3 another year if not this coming year. My advice, though, if you can fit it in at all, would be to take three years by the time you're out of high school, especially if you're decent at it. Even three years isn't a very advanced amount of study; not even to AP level yet.
Frankly, three years of the same language was necessary for me, but as a high school graduation requirement, not a college admissions thing. I got Spanish 1 out of the way in eighth grade; if I hadn't, I would've had a hell of a time fitting in three years just like I couldn't fit AP Spanish in junior or senior year, so I feel ya. It's up to you, I guess.

Hey, look! Finally a different signature after all these years!

I think it's better if you go onto the third year of language. Since I took 3+ years of Spanish in high school, I don't have to take language in college. Some colleges requires you to take language classes in order for you to graduate!

I think most school require at least 3 years of a language. If you don't like the language you're studying now then do 2 years of a different one.

Most colleges like it.
I was supoused to take french 3 this year, but my school ended the french program~ so I'm left with no choices.

they REQUIRE it? oh dear.. I really want to drop german this year. my teacher's someone I HATE. I really don't want any teachers I hate during my senior year :/ what do you guys think? german 3 is not even going to be an honors class, because last year's teacher quit and this teacher is already a math teacher (my math teacher from last year...) and so she can only teach one class non-honors. I HATE it, but I'll suck it up and do it if it'll make my chances of getting into a UC easier. so... what should I do?
