it really surprises me to see no topics regarding korean breakdancing.. so just to let u guys know, korean breakdancers became worldly famous in the year 2004, when the a korean crew named Gamblers came first place in the national breakdancing competition known as Battle Of The Year 2004 (boty04). Ever since their stunning victory, korean television has been broadcasting breakdancing battles on tv, goverment has been sponsering the breakdancing crews, and more people has started "bboying" (bboy is wut we breakdancers call ourselfs). In 2005 the crew Last For One (from korea) came first place in the battle of the year, and Extreme Crew (also from korea) came second. ok enough talking, heres the videos

I wish I could learn. haha
(I don't find it as a sport either - it's a dance, thus breakdancing - But it does take as much determination and practice)

actually dancing is considered a sport...
even poker && rock paper scissors are
Thank You!!! breakdancing is soo a sport!!! here are my reasons:
#1: do not be confused by the word breakDANCING, its actually a combination of dancing, martial arts, gymnastics, all combined and done rhythematically, and since martial arts and gymnatics are considered as a sport, so why not breakdancing...
#2: a sport is an activity involving physical exertion and skill that is governed by a set of rules or customs and often undertaken competitively. And since breakdancing is physical, and is governed by the rhythem and the style of dancing, and very competitive especially in countries like korea, france, japan, usa and china, therefore it is a sport.
and finally i will prove that it is a sport, wif this video:
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-6...mp;q=armory+cup
this video is a breakdancing battle broadcasted on the kbssky television between 2 popular crews.
The reason that this video proves my point, is if u look closely at the TOP RIGHT CORNER, it says :
KBYSSKY
sports <---------------- see??? it says sports!!!!
LIVE
and thats my point

Shoot, boxing is considered a sport - and that's just a primitive form of dancing too. Only the partners beat the hell out of each other as they dance around.
Into the last good bite I'll ever know

1. Korea had become known from Expressions crew, from BOTy as well, in 2001 or 2002.
2. The correct term is bboying. Breakdancing is a term given by the MEDIA. Which allows it to be untrue and not true HIPHOP
3. It is not a sport, bboying is a form of the 4 elements hip hop, as well as Mcing, Djing, and Graffiti. And all of those are ARTS. So therefore Bboying is an art of Hip hop.
4. Korea has made bboying into a sport, or a media central putting on shows, commericals, and other publicized events. These are the many things that you see. Check out the underground level of bboying.
5. Bboying is an art, because it is a lifestyle. Many people breathe hip hop. It is in there minds everywhere they go. Sport requires COMPETITION between one another. Where bboying is more of a FELLOWSHIP and winning is NOT everything. Cyphering, Circles, Sessions are more important then the competition.
Read the truth please.

its not what most of you guys think it is, it takes a REAL long time to really understand what its about..
with that said..koreans are rippin it.
IMO Rivers and Drifters being the top crews..
gamblers and extreme are probably more pleasing to the general person's eyes

I don't know who told anyone that it was!
It's a form of dancing and dancing is an art not a sport!
If anyone knew the history of bboying you would know that!
I'm not a breakdancer but being the proud new yorker that I am
and I my love for hip hop, I actually learn the history and it was not invented
as a sport and it hasnt evolved into one either.
It's a form of dancing
if bboying is a sport that so is crumping, dutty wine etc.
