So which do you prefer and why? I know your major is definately a factor..but lemme know what you think.

Laptop because I type faster, can organize better notes and actually stay awake easier because trying to sleep with a hot piece of machine on your lap is pretty difficult.

Oh yeah and I could also play games. : P

pen and paper better for charts, even if its messy you can always take the time later on after class to do it on your laptop. usually don't have the time to make it pretty in class.

I've always used a pen and paper, because my current laptop's too bulky to lug around campus.
things, however, could be different this upcoming quarter if I happen to buy that smaller, super cool macbook I've been eyein'.

depends on the class. in orgo lecture, pen& paper is the most effective because we're constantly "drawing." but in my bio lecture, laptop is definitely better, because there are SO much notes and typing is much faster.

def pen & paper. most of my classes were science related, so a pen (..colored pens) & paper were a must since there were tons of diagrams. but if the class just consisted of copying notes from an overhead or slides, a laptop would prob be faster.

I guess it depends. It's a lot more effective to write down notes though, you'll absorb the information better.

If your teacher posts powerpoints/lecture notes online, it would be helpful to have your laptop with you to follow along during lectures

I find pen and paper better because it's easier to concentrate while doing work. Also, its easier to carry around from class to class and I don't have to worry about it getting stolen.

I do a combination of both... Depends on the class really. But since my skool has computers in every classroom, i'm used to using a computer to take notes now

pen & paper cuz my laptop's a bit heavy and it's quite hot..stupid hp!! i hate it now..

anyway, but i still think laptop's very convienient..i love it cuz i can carry it around to write my essay...i could never draft out essays by hand since my writing is horrible.hahaha..and i'm lazy to write

Pen and paper mainly because I remember stuff better that way. Also, with a laptop I'd inevitably start poking around Facebook or chatting on AIM since there's a wi-fi signal in 99% of the lecture halls.

Pen and paper for me. I'm an English major, and I don't want to look any more pretentious than necessary while scribbling down my notes on Milton and Faulkner. Ha, sorry--it's just that all the guys in my major who bring laptops to class are the ones that also wear suits every day "just to make a good impression" and smoke cigars with "the boys" in their free time. *shudder*
