Everyone's been saying that ZLY needs rest, but as far as I see, she's been getting plenty of it.

Maybe it's because her Korean still isn't up to standard, but SM definitely hasn't been putting her on the promotional rounds. She's barely appeared on anything at all besides music shows, and between there's been almost an entire month between last Timeless live and the most recent ones. Er, so, hasn't she gotten enough rest?

rest? i highly doubt it.. not wen she's a sm artist.. SM plans to send her to china like freaking next year... just because she doenst appear on other shows.. it doesnt mean she stays home and sleep all day. I think she probably has to practice her korean, singing and dancing like crazy. especially the singing part... i think sm is probably making her practice day and night.... cuz her voice does sound kinda worn out.. n i mean she's suppose to be like the next boa.. imagine all the pressure she's going through.. she's probably too scare to mess up..look at the poor girl.. she still looks helka nervous on stage and because she's scared.. her voice automatically cracks.. (that's what i am assuming so please dont quote me on that lol) but yeah notice some parts she screams out the notes...
she probably gets scolded at if she doenst hit a certain note... i mean hey it's sm ..

Hmm.. I doubt shes restin.. Just because we dont see her much on TV doesnt mean she hasnt been doin much.. Im sure shes been learnin Korean, recordin and shootin her MV etc..

I know alot of people are sayin how crap she is when she sings Timeless live.. Im not goin 2 make excuses up 4 her coz i do agree but sayin that i still really like her..

Give artistes especially newcomers credit who do sing LIVE!!
U may be thinkin ''well shes been trained 4 so and so years'' BUT SO WHAT?!!? She is still a newcomer even if she has been trained 4 that long! There are still artistes who have been around that still lipsync! (i dislike singers that lipsync lol) I am not makin excuses up 4 her i just wanted 2 say CREDIT ARTISTES THAT DO PERFORM LIVE!!

I believe that sunmin does sing better live, however i dont see anything in her that i like? iono there is something about jang ri in that i like about.. even though she cant sing that good live, i still like her. Hmm iono how to say it lol but there's something about jang ri in as a singer that i like. Her voice is really good, she just needs to control it better. Sunmin is a good singer, but i dont think her voice can handle timeless.

Yeah, i see the same thing in here. Theres something about her that makes me wanna listen to her and love her. She isnt that pretty but its just something that makes her seem so nice and that she has worked really hard...

and i dont think she has been getting rest at all, im not talking about sleeping time only but with training and everything. i mean u can tell her voice is so hoarse now it wasnt like that wen she spoke

um..can you understand her chinese?? i listened to it and i couldnt really understand the chinese version of timeless..i ono..that is my opinion..i think i have good mando skills and i couldnt tell what she or xiah were singing...

I was really interested in Jang Ri In when I heard of her debut, because of all the hype from SM, and also that she's chinese.... I heard that she was only 17 and listened to her timeless single and thought wow, this girl has got some major talent....

I have to admit that I was really dissapointed on her first performance... I admit that I was even one of the people who criticized her in this thread about her live performances.... and afterwards she didn't really improve like people thought she would.... Then I realized that we expected too much for her, remember she's only 17....

Timeless is a hard song to pull off.... I think SM pushed her way too much vocally, to sing such a hard song.... they should have given her a easier song, so she can sing live better. When I heard her single, I really thought it was too good to be true because she's gorgeous, thin, and SM already told us that she has great dance skills too, and her vocals were so amazing, but after I heard her sing live, I realized that no one can be perfect.... Her vocal potential is good, like Boa, but its not like wow, amazing talent, like it seemed in her album... if you know what I mean.... But I think she makes that up with her looks and dance skills.... like I said before, no one's perfect.... I think it would be a good idea that she should do a powerful dance song for her next single. It may help raise her confidence on stage because she seems to have a hard time shaking off her nervousness.... even now.... I just watched her recent inkigayo performance yesterday, and she still seems to be quite nervous.

Some people here are recommending that she train more, but I don't think that's a good idea... if she already trained with SM for 3 years, that means she's already reached her vocal potential, I think... afterall SM has the best vocal trainers, dance instructors, etc... I think that Timeless, is just a really hard song to sing....

but the thing is~ BoA ((on professional bases)) doesn't have a good voice. She can't hit high notes or go to low. She has a very small range. DON'T GET ME WRONG! SHE IS ONE OF MY FAV ARTISTS I LOVE HER~ I mean~ she can dance and everything. But I have to say~ Boa can't sing. The music is what keeps her up. Without the music~ she's really not that great... I believe Zhang Li Yin will get better though~ she has only debuted for 2 months. That's a short period of time~

thank you so much for saying all that. and i`m not just saying that as a riIn fan~
but people hold their expectations so high -- forgetting that she`s just a young girl who JUST debuted a couple months ago. she will become more comfortable with time and show us better performances. but in the mean time she`s probably on the verge of going crazy as it is because of the pressure not only from xiahjunsu fans who kind of... ignore her when they perform together, but also from her own fans who say things with good intentions, but still put a lot of pressure on her to perform better than she is capable of doing so at this time.

^yeah most definitely. i think ZLY has GREAT potential, really.

of course, it DOES seem like she got popular with timeless because so many popular people have been associated with it (xiah junsu, shiwon, hankyung, lee yeon hee from the music vid) but i think she'll be able to stand on her own soon.

in her live performances she never quite gets all the notes right but have you heard her voice when she sings some of the runs?? she's reallyy powerful and remember she's only debuted for a short period of time AND she's so young still. tvxq's jaejoong said he was made fun of when he was younger for being a bad singer but look at him now!

i have faith in her and i think with timeless and future projects she'll be able to succeed and improve.

i've got something to confess..

I really dont know and absolutely dont know or even heard about Jang Ri-in's promoting before she debuted her single. First, i downloaded from the internet because her first single was featurin' Xiah Junsu (And im a really big fan of TVXQ) after i listened to 'Timeless', i started to having some interesting in her (because of her voice) and after i listened to her another single 'Y', that's when i knew that i really like her..

I really dont care about the special effects that they've put in the song or did something to her voice in the recording.. but i just felt like.. 'She's IT!! I've never liked any of the female singer of korea before and im like, JRI's it! She's got something in her voice that made me so obsessed with her. (You can see the first post that i've posted here.. i was saying that she could compete Christina and blah blah blah..)

I've never heard things about her when SM promoted her, such as she could dance and etc.
I even havent seen her did her 1st live performance (It's when TVXQ came to Thailand right?? and Xiah had to left earlier than the other member because he had to perform it with her).. I started to download all her live performances not long ago.. (Thanks to wackycashew ^^ )

I dont really care about her performing live, but yet.. i have to admit that i've got some expectation too but it's not so high coz i've realized that even tho she's been trained a lot but she is still young and she must got a lot of presure from the environment around her. Even tho she had been trained a lot but the place that she's steppin on is still not her own home and the people all around her are definitely not her kind!

So, i think she deserves some chance to improve her talent coz after all, she's still young and there's a long way to go ^^

^Nicely said. That's exactly what I think. I also didn't who she was when I listened to her song until someone on Soompi, I think, said she was the second BoA. We should give her some credits for being so far away from home and she's only been sining in a foreign language not too long ago. True .. she has been studying the language for quite some time, but BoA also didn't perfect Japanese at one go. Besides that .. SM is planning on her to be really big, putting even more pressure on her. Lets just hope she will do better with Y. =D

i hate when they say she's the second boa.... she sounds nothing like boa imo. her voice is much richer, she has a higher range, and she also doesn't sound nasally when she reaches those high notes. i don't know which part of her is supposed to be like boa unless lsm is referring to her potential in becoming an international star.
