not much to say about xiah -- he's a good, seasoned performer. he's pretty much always consistent; i can't say i've watched a lot of tvxq performances, but outta the ones i've watched, i've only seen him mess up ONCE, and it was 'cuz his voice randomly cracked, not due to him being off key or anything relating to his vocal skills.
as for jangriin, she did much better this time. the only obvious slip was at the very end where she had to 'climb' for that high note and she couldn't do it at all. though that was her only OBVIOUS slip, she was still far from perfect. throughout the song, she couldn't control her voice too well, so there were a lotta fluctuations, especially in controlling the volume.
i think the thing that is holding her back and causing her to mess up a lot is her lack of confidence. i think she is a good singer, but not phenomenal, as many fans would like to depict. i do think that her voice isn't as great as it's represented in the korean studio version of 'timeless' -- i really do believe that that version has been technically enhanced by the producers to make her sound more impressive. in the korean version of 'timeless,' her voice resonates and sounds great; but in live performances and her other songs (namely the chinese version of 'timeless' and 'y'), it sounds like her voice is just squeaking outta her throat, instead of her stomach, where it should come from. the korean version of 'timeless' was the first song of hers i heard and my first reaction was 'niiice -- she can sing!' in a way, i feel like that song misled everyone and that's why so many ppl have been disappointed by her two performances. nevertheless, i still think she's capable of doing more than she's demonstrated in the past two days. i think she can only improve from here on out. i will be watching for her next two performances next weekend, seeing if she can finally hit those high notes.

It's bad timing for EMG to come out w/ SUm min...
EDIT--- I went to watch Sun Mins debut preformance & she was soo much better than Jang Ri, even J.R.I is my Fav! Sun Min wasn't nevrous, she sung live, her voice is beautiful & it wasnt shakie & she hit all her notes... But the song itself wasnt that hot... Timeless is better but i just wish J.I.R would Sing it better live & perfect...
Jang Ri In! all the way! Unnie Supports You!!!

anyone know who i`m talking about? xP
her second performance was MUCH better, she was still a little shaky but it wasn`t as bad as the first time. i think she did pretty darn good live for someone who has just debuted.

Y sounds really R&B-ish which I love and I thought it sounded very American-like.. turns out the producer of this song is made by an American producer named Fraley. I don't know if that's a first name or a last name but I read it on an article.

And she could be 16 [by non korean standards] if her birthday is really really really late into the year.
yup, im the same year as her, my bdays dec 28
i hope this week her vocal coach or somebody teaches her to correct the things that were wrong with her performance like the high notes and have her practice it like crazy so even when she's nervous it'll sound alright. Hope she'll do better next week =) im confident that without nerves she sounds awesomme because if she didnt why would they call her 'chinese boa'? And if they did enhance her voice in the korean mp3 then she would still have to sound really good live for them to be so impressed with her talent and present her as chinese boa

something i did find nice at inki gayo was the fact that there wasnt excessive screaming that distracted the performance. i understand that these cheer type things are important in terms of support, but i do think its also important to be respecting the music.
as for comparison with sunmin, its almost unavoidable. being in the public eye, its natural to be commented about, criticized and compared. being so heavily promoted and backed by sm adds to the situation. i watched sunmin's duet with hyesung and have got to say that i was more impressed. i find they connect well and their voices blend nicely together, but then again, sunmin isnt completely new to the stage. i really like timeless, but sometimes i feel that junsu's voice is a lot... lighter(? im not quite sure how to put this into words -.-; ) than liyin's. her voice seems very promising though, it seems to have the potential of a certain fullness that i really like. a nice tone for r&b.
i liked Y too. its got a different mood from timeless, which is nice and shows her vocals in a slightly different way. its very r&b and gives me an alicia keys vibe towards the end.
im still pretty optimistic about her.

I finally got around to listening to the Y song that a soompi member pmed me and I love it. I actually like it a lot better than Timeless.

Did you know the original was sung by Kelly Clarkson and Justin Guarini
I just found that out today
lots of American connections

Y is composed from Branon Fraley.
Anyways.. wow this thread grows so fast. Ai, I don't have time to visit this thread often. And two forums already? *joins and will post after school tomorrow*
I watched a bit of her Inkigayo performance. It's better than the Music Core one, definately. Hope she'll continue to improve.
