BUT, I think, jang ri in's voice is 9853475times more powerful than boa's. Her vocal range is so much more wider. Boa doesnt even sounds this good when she's 16.

I dunno, I kinda don't hear it, but I kinda do. When I first heard "Timeless," I was like "Er... Chinese BoA? But their voices are nothing alike." I suppose they sound "the same," more specifically when they're singing in their upper-middle range, but their technique and tone are completely different. BoA's voice also seems to be a bit lower and a bit softer, which is more typical of the pop sound that was out there when she debuted and is a reflection of her training in pop/dance music, whereas Zhang Li Yin has a crisper, more resonate sound to her which is a reflection of the more soulful pop/R&B music that SM has geared her for.

I actually think Zhang Li Yin totally sounds like Dana during "Y (Why..)."

oh definitely. i think i mentioned this before in this thread earlier. i don't really listen to boa, but i've seen a couple of her performances and have overheard my sister playing her songs, so i recognize her voice. jang ri in definitely sounds like boa! in both 'y' and 'timeless' (chinese version), i totally hear the boa in her voice. and once in awhile, during her live performances, when she's struggling to hit the high notes, i hear traces of boa there too. boa's voice is pretty distinct, so it's pretty easy to pick it out when you hear it. i mean, even though you can still tell the difference between the two's voices, everytime i listen to those two songs of jang ri in's, i always think, 'omg, she sounds like boa.' i'm guessing they had the same vocal coach or something.

i dont think she's labelled the "Chinese BoA" in the sense that she sounds like her. i get the impression that she's similar to boA in the sense that she's treated as well as boA by sm and that she's also a talented solo female singer thats working towards a panasia career, mainly china and korea for the time being, which is much like boA with korea and japan.

at times i am reminded of boA when hearing her, but i do think she has distinctive qualities to her voice that sets her apart. like i've mentioned before, theres this strength to it that i'm really fond of.

well if i have to describe it then boa voice is a wavy line while jang ri in is a slanted straight line..

to me "chinese boa" is just a metaphor sm use to describe how much talents n potential she had..
they cant just say.. "she's really good".. then nobody would care if they say "she's as good as boa".. it's a different thing..
beside i dont think sm need to go as low as sponsor 2 artists that gonna be alike cuz in the end .. if the 2 going off each other, it's the company loss.
