I took Spanish throughout high school so I'm familiar with it, but am in no way GOOD at it.
Then again I've kind of always wanted to take Japanese. I don't know what it is, curiosity maybe.
help?

Is the area where you live dominated by asians or non-asians?
It's mainly what kind of environment you live in..and YES, your own preferences too...
But you gotta ask yourself which one is more useful for ya~

I took Japanese for 4 years in high school then took a semester off of it during my first year and then took it my 2nd semester is was easily able to pick everything up. Plus, I learned way more in 1 semester than I did in 4 years of high school. And I'm also currently taking JPN right now as well. The same could happen if you want to continue Spanish. I'm not saying that you should, it's just an easier choice also because there are many Spanish-only speakers around so you'd be a great asset to them.

I picked Japanese, it's not that useful outside of Japan, especially not compared to Spanish but it pertains to my major and what I'd like to do in the future
Japanese is more in demand for business, as they have the second largest economy in the world. People also have cult-like obsessions with things like anime and manga, and the culture is pretty rich in Japan (not that anyone sees past the anime but ya know). There's a hell of alot more people fluent in Spanish and English than there are Japanese and English which would make you valuable and anything you do that involves the language will earn you more money.
Spanish is more useful worldwide, and a knowledge of Spanish will make learning things like Italian much easier. That's the great thing about european languages is that they're all connected in some way..Japanese isn't connected to anything/ Japanese is not connected to Korean, the grammar may be similar but a speaker of Korean or Japanese could not understand or read each other's language like a Swede could understand a Dane or a Portugese person could understand a Spanish person.
If I would have to recommend a language I would choose mandarin
A note with both Japanese and Mandarin: You must learn the characters and the written language, if you do not know the kanji or the hanzi then you really don't know the language
