So what makes your college application better?

I know sports does but i can't play any sports. o.0...should i learn during the next summer and then try-out for the following year?

Thanks! (And for those who are already in college, can you list the college you went to?)

the essay

a person can really tell what you're thinking, how you analyze and how well your thought processes flow through your essay. if you're the type who doesn't let several people proof your work then you better hope you're an excellent writer because psychobabble isn't appealing. hehe...

there are minor things to boost your acceptance chances that vary from school to school such as: your parent being an alumni, recommendation letters, volunteer hours, activities, interests, talents/abilities. There are so many things out there and collegeboard lists the factors that are important, and that are taken into consideration at schools. So just look it up. Some schools require 3 yrs of foreign language etc.

^ *nod nod* i think the essay is pretty important because this is where -you- get to show them who you are; this is what seperates you and the other people with similar GPAs and classes as you

hmm... i think that the SATs were pretty important this year. my friend got about a 3.0 average in school, no extra curricular except badminton for 3 years, skipped class a lot, but had a really high 2000+ SAT score and got into UCSD winter quarter. she did that.. re-apply thing [forgot what it was called __ __;] for UCLA and got in.

besides the essay, something ur very passionate abt is important.. which i guess counts as extracurriculars. whether it be that you volunteer a lot or have stuck with a sport or instrument for a very long time and you love it.
