I did crosscountry and track my sophomore year (I wasn't in varsity or anything) but
Since I'm a junior now, I'm taking pretty tough classes, like 4 AP's and an elective
so I decided not to do crosscountry this semester.
I have just 5 classes now and I'm kinda regretting quitting xcountry.
Should I rejoin it? Would it have been better if I just didn't do cross country at all in my sophomore year since I'm not being consistent with it? blink.gif

Do cross-country.
Although grades are the biggest part to acceptance into a prestigious school.. such a school also will want students who are well-rounded. Sports are a big reflection of exactly that, especially if you're in varsity. Trust me.. Junior year was tough, but after I've completed it.. It wasn't so bad.

My friend and I have been on the tennis team for 4 years. We're both on varsity, and I made the starting line up my junior year. My friend could have done also, but her parents persuaded her that it would be too much with all the AP's and SATs, etc. She quit tennis for junior year. She majorly majorly regrets it..

It's up to you dear~ but so many people have balanced sports and school.. and that's what schools look for.. students who know the meaning of balance-

best of wishes*

well.....i think that if you do it like, all 4 years it also shows dedication towards the sport and if you can earn a title (captain etc.) its even better for colleges. if you really think that classes is too much already and u cant handle a sport i dont really think its THAT big of a deal......do some extracurricular activity or something. then if you can, join the team next yr!!

Doing cross country is great, but colleges really don't care about sports unless you are particularly good at the what you are doing. Even for asians, who are not particularly known for their participation in athletics, it doesn't matter unless you are good enough to compete at the collegiate level. That being said, it is important to mention what schools you are looking to apply to when asking any of these questions, as schools differ from time to time regarding how they look at extra curriculars.
