I've been here so long but never had a chance to post anything. It's my first time greeting everyone here. (How are you doing?) Today, I have a few minutes to spare (before was always busy downloading stuffs), so I'd like to introduce myself.
I'm May, from Myanmar, Southeast Asia, studying medicine, living in a boarding house, leading a boring life, and loving Shinhwa.
My love affair with Shinhwa started 3 years ago when I saw Hye-sung with S. His charm is so irresistible that I couldn't help falling in love with this pretty boy.
Here in Myanmar, k-pop is an alien thing. Not many people know Korean pop, though k-dramas are so popular. They still think K-pop is the same as C-pop. After airing of Full House, Rain becomes a hottie and they finally seem to realize kpop. However, much to my disappointment, Shinhwa is an unknown quantity in this country. There are no more than 2 or 3 Shinhwa fans here. And I don't find anyone in my school.
I myself desperately want to promote Shinhwa here but it is way beyond my capability. My kpop possession is so small that I feel humble to say I'm an avid Shinhwa fan. The only CD I have is of Hye-sung's Love in May. That CD, in fact, came from Arirang TV, for I won a request on Pops in Seoul. I can't buy their CD here (don't find any shop selling them), or I can't order online either (because I don't have any $) and can't download stuffs as much as I want since we don't have internet at home (I'm web-surfing from a cyber café).
To confess openly, I acquired my first mp3 player just last week. Before, I'd download 4 or 5 songs (as much as the speed would give me), and took them home every week with a CD. Then I'd keep them on my PC at home. When I have to come back to school, I'd copy those songs with a tape recorder. The whole week, I'd spend hours listening to Shinhwa songs I had recorded on my old walkman. So, this is my way of keeping in touch with my favorite boys.
For the visual part, the only Korean TV I can watch is Arirang TV. They did show many things about Shinhwa when I started loving kpop. I'd record every show that features Shinhwa on my VCR. Those days, I was still in high school and we lived in a small town where internet is inaccessible. So, Arirang TV was the only way I could see Shinhwa. I got to see Hye-sung with S and 2003 and 2004 M.net MV festival where Shinhwa won the best male group award. And I got to see their music videos on Pops in Seoul too. Especially in 2004, after they came back with "Brand New", there was a lot of good news about Shinhwa on Arirang's entertainment programs. A happy year.
I left for university in 2005 and also got to experience internet. But I couldn't (and still can't) download any video files since the connection speed is terribly slow here. My hometown is only 80 miles away from my school, so I am able to go back almost every week for a dose of kpop. I'd stay up late on weekends and watch old MVs and my collections of Shinhwa. This is the way I have worked out to see my boys.
Currently, I am enjoying vol.8 on my new mp3 player. (You guys won't mind me downloading it, right?) It's an album so fine that I can't hit "STOP"!!! I see Shinhwa is enjoying great popularity across Asia. I am happy and sad at the same time. Happy for there are still many fans who love them and sad that I can't be like you guys; never had a chance to see them (don't mention personally, I can't even see them on screen!!!!!)
However unlucky I may be, I still feel great for I get to know Shinhwa and love them. I cannot support them materially (still trying to). But I'll pray hard for their success though it won't be of any help. May god bless Shinhwa!!!!
(Sorry… I always become talkative when I get too emotional!!^_^) Thanks for reading.
