[cell Phone] Sticky Situation With Networks going from t-mobile to verizon

i've been on t-mobile since i first got a cell phone which was freshman year of high school (i'm going to college in less than 2 weeks). in the spring i bought sony ericsson w900i to use with t-mobile and i love it.
here's where it gets ugly. my parents moved to verizon last fall from t-mobile so they want me to move to verizon so we can call for free. another thing is that they want me to pay my own phone bill which is going to be pretty hard since i don't even have a job and i'll be going to san diego jobless...
anyway so i'm going with verizon wireless but the thing is that i absolutely detest all their cell phones (including the new chocolate and the samsung with 3.2mp camera) because of the ugly red user interface. i hate their phones so much that i'm actually looking into getting a korean phone to work here =_=;;;;;
so i'm going to ok cellular on my way down to sd and i wanted to get some information about the place... like how they treat their customers... and if they're crooks or whatever^^;; i know the phone number (i called the guy up today and he seemed mildly annoyed at me for no good reason) and how to get there but i wanted other info like the plans or what phones they sell. so please help me out thank you >///////<

You're right though the phones available on a CDMA network are terrible. They do look like crap... but the sound quality.. is awsome.

Make sure you find a phone that is CDMA compatible. It's not as easy as just saying "Oh I want that cellphone so I'm gonna buy it and bring it to Verizon to get it activated." A lot of the cool and oh-so-awsome phones are only available on GSM networks. Especially those from Korea and Japan.

actually that's not really the problem ("finding a phone that is CDMA compatible") ^^; i already know that korean phones from sk telecom will work with verizon wireless... it's just that it's illegal and is a waste of the phone... and almost all the phones from korea are cdma i think...^^;

just another example of the "bad" service from them. If you just take your time and scope out ktown, i think you'd probably find better places.

i would like to know if they have some website of any of these stores where you can buy a korean fone for anyone that doesnt live near there....Im really wanting the SKY U110 or U100....are they cdma or gsm?
they're cdma so you can only use verizon wireless with them (i heard also maybe sprint but i've never seen it for real) i don't think it's a good idea to get it if you don't live near because it's already damn hard enough to get customer service from those guys when you live near... he sounded annoyed and bored when i asked him questions over the phone

Wait...how does this work? So the store sells Korean phones straight from Korea and you get to use it under an American service provider?
...
Yeah I think that's what they're talking about.
My mom got a phone thru tmobile and the store bought it from HK.. cute phone but horrible phone service -__-''

Anyways, to the OP, the plans are usually the Verizon plans. & the people over at OK Cellular ARE shady. Last time, they signed me up for some plan that I didn't want & I had to pay like $80 extra. & are you Korean? Cus I hurd they totally rip non-Koreans off.

Verizon Wireless doesn't work in Canada, and I don't know if Telus or Rogers use CDMA (they're probably GSM). Plus, the IM-U110 is 3 years old, so they don't make or sell the phone anymore.

I actually use OK Cellular a lot because I know how it works and I don't sign up for new plans -- I just pay a huge amount to just get the phone. But I tried Hankook Phone this time and I'm using the IM-U160 at the moment. Yeah, it seems like something that only Koreans should do -- they already seem annoyed enough with Koreans trying to get Korean phones
My parents made me move to Verizon because they have Verizon Wireless and they wanted to be able to call me free and vice versa. If I got the my faves plan, I'd be able to call them free, but they would not be able to call me for free. Plus, T-Mobile reception sucks in San Diego.
