Asian Martial Arts Movies.. I'm getting sick and tired of them...

This is not meant to be insulting or offensive...
For the asian american actors out there, they should know what I mean
I got this from an idea started by some person at a different message board..
Anyway, is it just me or are asian martial arts movies getting REALLY old?
They're setting the asians back and constantly re-inforcing the fact that asians = martial artists
A movie by the name of 'KUNG FU PANDA' is coming out..
Rush Hour 3 is coming out..
Tony Jaa is making an attempt to go mainstream in Hollywood with his "Muy Tai"
Jet Li is coming out with a 'Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon' attempt
I mean, every other race can get non stereotyping roles EXCEPT asians.
Martial arts movies should have ended with Bruce Lee and "Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon"
Thank GOD for Sandra Oh.
My rant is over.
Ps. My dream would be that this post actually made a difference for asian american actors out there

im not sick and tired of martial arts movies, and besides, thats what asians are best at, and they're not even asian AMERICAN's there just 100% asian.
Really?
So you're saying.. since martial arts is what asians do best..
thats ALL we should do?
Well thanks for trying to get us somewhere
btw, lemme make this clear before some martial art obsessed guy comes in here to bash me
I think it's fine.. Discipline, work out, it IS a form of art - I appreciate it (truly)
I'm just saying that i HATE how Hollywood portrays it with Asians - CONSTANTLY making jokes out of it, etc.

Well I wouldn't quote Jet Li's Fearless movie as bein a joke, cuz that movie is actually based on a true story(this first came out in China, now is imported to US) . There must be a demand for these martial arts movies or else they wouldn't have put it on the big screen in the first place

Then.. BOOM
Bulletproof Monk
Cradle 2 the Grave
The One
Romeo Must Die
Around The World in 80 Days
The Medallian
Shanghai Knights
The Tuxedo
Shanghai Noon
Kung Fu: The Next Generation
(I'm pretty sure there are a lot more)
There's no demand..
It's just money (which makes me even more furious)
Hollywood is using the Asian stereotype to make money and please western white people..
Because it's amusing to see an Asian guy prancing around, right? erg.
If you think about it..
Asians would be the LAST race to break the stereotype (if we ever do)

Besides, I love Jet Li, and Jackie Chan is nifty, but what else would they do?

I have to agree, although I do like martial arts movies, however, it'd be nice if they stop the stereotype for a change. Never have I seen a movie here that involved a cast of asians, without martial arts...ever...

^yeah me 2
Im not asian, so i might not understand 100%. Every group(race) of ppl have their good qualities.
And that is ONE of the asians best. Its kinda like black ppl being known for singing, dancing, and the tall guys
are good at basketball. It can be positive or negative. Now days everyone sing and dancing etc. And for thes martial arts movies....non asian people are trying to put them in their movies..some of the movies they make im like leave it to the pros guys lol. I enjoy the movies ill miss em if they just completely stop. I especially enjoy the women fighters...gosh good story lines. I say more power to the asian that come out and do other parts in hollywood. *shrug* That is good as well.

Anyway, if you're Asian and trying to get acting roles in Hollywood - you'd be pretty annoyed too
Some cd asked me if I was willing to play a "gangster asian role" - the one with the strong asian accent and talks like "DO YOO WANT A FLIED LICE?!" (fyi, flied lice = fried rice)

And gambling, with fight scenes.
Don't watch asian-american films then, cause that's all they're about really

Stereotype.
Clearly asians are masters at flying around with obvious strings attached!

She didn't kick any ass in Domino.
That's the only thing I can think of at the moment.

Normal "kung-fu fighta" movies are boring. I like the ones that involve card and knife-throwing
And gambling, with fight scenes.
Don't watch asian-american films then, cause that's all they're about really

Someone up there asked me "Why do you watch them then?" ...But I guess they edited their post.... lol
