256 Ram On 512 Ram?

i just bought a 512 ddr 2700 sodimm(333mhz) for my laptop.
after i got everything installed, i check to see if everything was ok which it was.
then i noticed the ram was only 256. why is that? please help.

ram isn't compatible with laptop?

i had ram that wasn't compatible with my desktop, stupid mobo cant take 1 gig sticks fury.gif

Uh, you're looking at ram stick 2 aren't you?
Slot #2 is selected to show DDR 256mb so im assuming thats your old stick of memory.

How about right click my computer properties. It should show hte amount of ram you have.

Unless of course you only have 1 slot for memory. But if thats the case then you're dealing with non-existant memory issues like ram density and all that which I don't think exists anymore.

If you have the 2 sticks of ram original 256 and the 512 doesn't show up then you probably just want to reseat the 512 stick.

Yes, like Awdark said.

Unless they sent you a 512 stick instead of a 256. Right click my computer.

THEN tell us how much RAM windows is reading. Or Cntrl + Alt + Del and check there as well.
