i have both and i don't really know which one i like to use more. i have a vaio desktop and a macbook. i kind of like using my desktop more because i'm not completely used to using a mac. when downloading applications and stuff a lot of things are more compatible on windows but if both my computers were windows or macs i guess i would prefer to use my laptop since it's portable and i can bring it everywhere.

it depends on the situation.
For gaming, I by far, prefer a desktop. Laptop LCD screens still have an average of 25ms response time and aren't as good as Desktop LCDs and CRT monitors. Video cards are easily upgradeable and you can buy much larger HDs for less. You also don't have to worry about heat from the palm rest, and air vents.

however for every other scenario, I prefer a laptop. On the days that were really hot..I wish i had a laptop, so I could carry my computer to the living room where its cooler or my friends house, using wireless. Also useful in college too as i tend to fall asleep. While a laptop may be distracting, it at least keeps me awake. better to hear some of the lecture than to fall asleep through it.

I prefer PC's over laptops for a lot of reasons.

I use a lot of editing softwares like Adobe Premiere and After Effects as well as Flash, and 3D programs like Maya so I need a powerful PC.

2nd reason is the overheating problems. I can leave the PC on all day long but I'd have to shutdown a laptop within 5 hours of use.

I'm gonna get a laptop soon though -- A black Macbook, and I'm looking forward to using it as my secondary machine.

It really depends on purpose don't you think?

If you wanted to be a super gamer or need a LOT of power or perhaps want triple LCDs with water cooling like tons of storage... well you need a desktop.

If you want portabiity...

Well what it comes down to is it all based on what you need.

Currently I like laptops. Mine (not panda's) is quiet and does the internet just fine. When I want to process anything I would load it into my desktop and convert or do whatever.

I find desktops to be more stable.. more upgradable.. and generally allow for more power.. though laptops do have portability, they always seem to have little quirks.
I am the minority here.

I love the PC. It's so much faster and it leaves me at a designated work station. It's more powerful and since I have dual monitors... it makes working on images/websites/movies/music/messaging and browsing/everything so much more convienent.

I came. I saw. I Soompied.

it doesn't matter to me.. i don't even have a laptop yet but i guess my opinion might change later on when i do get one since people always tell me it's more comfortable since you can always carry it around with you & you can use it anytime, anywhere.

It really depends on what i'm doing, but I prefer my laptop. I'm so used to using my laptop that i'm not used to the keyboard on my desktop.

I use my laptop for everything except making graphics then I use my desktop because it has the mouse with it. I also use my desktop for when the internet on my laptop is messing up or it won't let me on.

I prefer PC. I cannot stand a laptops screen, it always gives me a headache. and i like the screen a fair distance away from my eyes.. using a laptop strains my eyes. and i dont like using the keys.. in short, a laptop is too compact for me.

It really doesn't matter, I have both and I use both equally because I use my desktop at home and laptop in classes / on campus etc. While a laptop is definitely more portable, I definitely can easily access my files on my desktop anywhere with a internet connection.

if i'm at home i will use my desktop definitely.

there's no reason for me to stare at a the 15" screen when i can look at the 19" screen of the desktop.
