Yes I did and they always failed classes because the teachers would ask questions that you'd only know the answers to if you we're in the classes.

Yup i know some people, and most of them never tend to do well, cuz in some unis, you can get kicked out for not attended a certain percentage of lectures/classes. I know one person who did this and got higher than me >_<

Ya......me. I only do it because the teacher isn't really teaching, basically copying from the book. I took calculus in high school but failed the exam so I'm taking precal trig right now. I go to class until she gives us a pre-test which is very similar to the real test. After getting the pre-test, I don't go and just teach myself since it's easy for me and I already know most of the stuff.

I would never do that.
You can't just miss science classes and expect to pass the class...plus, there are labs!

i have to say that it depends on the class... i skip some classes (the ones others told me that they skipped in the past and it was okay).. a lot of people are actually asleep during the class and they can still pass, so i figure that it's the same as not going to the class...

I did that for my calculus class. There is just so many 8 AMs I could attend. Most of the time, I was late for the class.

Passed with an A.. with flying colors. Not really recommended. I knew the material, but in other classes, I don't go a day without learning something new.

yeah, i know a lot of ppl who did that...but only if they were sure the class was based on just reading and looking over backexams and not based on taking notes...and if it was a large class in a lecture hall & no attendance was taken.

Ha, yes. Just don't do it unless it's some course you're very confident in. Or unless it's a course where the prof is so bad that you're better off learning from the book.

I did this with my calc I class here last fall. Not only did I have a horrible professor, but I had already taken AP calc in high school with a good teacher (yes, I'm an idiot for not taking the AP exam and getting credit >.<). I did well in the class though, as it turned out. Nobody passed his exams, literally. Ever. But he ended up curving so much in the end that I ended up doing pretty well in the class.

Another friend of mine did this with her calc II class last spring. She stopped going after two weeks of lecture and just learned everything from the book. She ended up with a 97 or a 98 and got to exempt the final.

But again, don't do it unless you're confident. tongue.gif

for certain subjects (and/or if the school allows it) it's possible. i did that for calculus/engineering all 3 quarters and i still got B's, with high possibilites for A's.. although B's arent the best, ill take them. what happens is that i go to the first class, see if the teacher can teach the material well and decide if i wanna stay.. i found that the math teachers really arent all that great, all they do is copy stuff on the board (one teacher never even turned around) so its not worth going to class.

The rest of my teachers actually do roll call. But it's random, they do it by quiz or whatever. I think my math teacher is still a student, so she doesn't even bother with attendance.

I think most people only do this with math classes since the book actually gives examples and etc. I don't see many people doing it in other classes unless they are taking the same class for the second time.
