I'm a novice when it comes to photoshop hehe...just thought I should throw that out. Now, when I make my graphics I usually use brushes, stock and I mess around with filters but that's about it. but, I've been hearing alot about textures. My problem....how do you use a texture (generally). I downloaded a few and they were in jpg format. is that right?

I don't use textures myself but yes they are just pictures in general.

I THINK that people usually blend it into the graphic? I'm not too sure =x

Does anyone know any info about detagging caps or scans? What program you use? How it happens? Hard or easy? Thank you.

Isn't it just using the cloning brush on Photoshop? huh.gif

i usually just use the clone stamp or healing brush tool. jiejunwoo is taking requests to detag caps/scans if you need it done.

textures are pretty versatile sweatingbullets.gif. you can put them on a layer above an image and change the bblending mode to screen, overlay, or any one of the blending modes.

I'm trying to make a new wallpaper and I want to post up lyrics in the background (right now, specifically Chinese, though I'd like to know how to get Japanese and Korean to work too). How do I get foreign languages to show up in Photoshop? What can copy&paste from the website to Word or Notepad doesn't work in Photoshop (7.0) and I'm not sure what to do, even though I tried searching a bit on google. Please help! Thanks smile.gif

It takes more than just changing the mode to work with texture. The placement of the textures plays a big role. As well, as knowing which parts to erase when you've overdone it on some part of the artwork.

In order to use foreign writings on a piece of work, you're going to have to download a font made especially for them. For instant, you want Chinese character, you're going to have to download a font that's made especially for Chinese characters in order to use it on PS. Otherwise, little boxes will show up.

I THINK you take the pen tool, outline it, and then right click > stroke path > brush (uncheck simulate pressure) . then choose a 1 px brush.

you saved the texture just like a picture.
you open it up in PS and drag it and put it ontop of a picture and just change the blending mode ;D
thats hhow you used texture.

^If you did save it just like a picture then you can either right click the texture>open with>Adobe Photoshop and then proceed to drag it on top

OR-- (have photoshop open/already be using photoshop) click on File> Open> click on the texture

...did I answer that right?...I hope that's what you were asking.

okay so recently i had to restart my computer therefore having to open/restart photoshop. and i try to open photoshop and it gives me three kinds of error messages. one says could not open default patterns because scratch disk is full. the second one says could not open default styles because scratch disk is full. and the last one says could not initiate photoshop because scratch disk is full. and then it closes on its own. i figured that it was because i have too many things in my C drive, but i deleted like a bunch of things and it still says that. any help?

textures are basically just regular images. they aren't like brushes where you have to save them in a specific folder.

By default your 'scratch disk' is set to your system drive/partition (C:/ usually on a Windows machine).
If it becomes too full for Photoshop's scratch disk, it's a pretty safe bet that it's too full for your system as well.
Do you know how much space you have left?
