THIS is what I want to learn how to do
The boxes the girl is in.

credit: lilchan
i asked her, but i dont wanna bother her!
I know that I gotta click on the layer box. and then if i put a coloured box ontop of my image, it goes white...
but then what do i do after?

There's actually a few ways you could do that... I know you've already described what you want, but could you please be more specific?

Boxes she's in?

For the 3 portrait images behind the main focus I think she just took 3 images of her and pasted them in and equally spaced them out from each other. put a bunch of boxes behind them and then turned them at an angle
using the edit>transform>skew thingy.

From what I see she took the polygon lasso tool and started to cut away the original image and then paste the proceeds on a new layer then add a drop shadow.

For that I usually just make a new CHANNEL, zoom in to about 800% and look at the VERY top left corner. Then I use the pencil tool to draw what kind of line pattern I want. In this case, I'd color in a line that was 2 pixels high and 8 pixels across. Then I take my rectangular marquee tool and select the line I made AND another blank area equal to the line I selected (I know this sounds confusing). THen you can use what you selected and define it as a pattern. THen go back to your main image and then go to edit>fill> select the pattern you made then you'll see a whole bunch of lines going across.. then all you gotta do is fill it with whatever color you want and set the opacity and you'll have ur lines.

i understand that this is all VERY vague.. Please PM and we can do like.. a webcam chat and I'll walk you through it all if need be. T_T There should already be tutorials on those though.

I came. I saw. I Soompied.

Start with the diagonal scanline tutorial.
But instead of drawing a diagonal line, draw a straight line (across the middle of the 3x3 square - if you want horizontal, make the line horizontal in the middle).
Follow the rest of the tutorial as is.

The scanline tutorial is very very straight forward.
If you can read and comprehend English, know how to click your mouse and type on your keyboard, you should have no problems following the steps.

Good luck.

question: how do you set the default foreground color (black) and background color (white)? (for a blank layer) where do you click to change these settings?

What do you mean by 'default'?

If you're referring to the foreground and background color chooser 'boxes' on your tools palette, simply pressing the letter 'D' on your keyboard will 'reset' your foreground and background colors to the 'default' black and white. Pressing the 'X' key will swap the foreground and background colors.
If, for some reason, you don't have a keyboard, there's a tiny icon next to the two foreground and background color chooser that looks like the same color chooser, but smaller, and black and white. Clicking that icon will also reset your colors to the default black and white. Clicking the curved two headed arrow will swap the foreground and background colors.

I can only imagine that you're asking this question because perhaps you ran into a step in the tutorial where it asked you to set your foreground and background colors to default. They just mean they want pure black for the foreground color and pure white for the background color, which you can set individually by clicking directly on the color chooser boxes (foreground or background), and choosing the appropriate colors from the color picker dialogue box. It's just quicker to tap the D key.

Hope this was what you were asking.

Maybe be a bit more specific about what you need in the future.

lol.

This is awesome.
At least it tells her that's it's actually IN Photoshop, and that it should be available SOME where within the program.

Create 3 (or how many ever images you want to use) layers with each of the pictures on its own layer.
Make sure they're all placed where you want them to be.
Send the file to ImageReady ('File>Edit in ImageReady').
While in image ready, turn off two of the layers for the first frame.
Then add a new frame, and turn off two other layers.
Each new frame should contain only one image layer visible.
Then you can go back and add tweens between the images.

You may call me what ever you wish to call me.
'Jason' is just fine.

I wouldn't have answered your question if I were upset. I don't get upset here. That would be silly. I DO wish to punch a few people in the face, though. But I'm not upset about it. : )

by bold or solid do you mean thicker lines? If that's the case, all you have to do is change the pixels you set your border to. Best recommendation is to select all --> stroke -->input thickness by changing pixels

Looks like you have a 1pixel border for the black, if you want it thicker or make it look more 'solid' then I'd say changing it to 3pixels would be good enough. But yea I hope that helps

Did anyone answer this yet? sweatingbullets.gif

Well, basically, what you do is what graphic designers called rendering. No, not the abstract kind, haha.

There are different methods. You can use the eraser and go around. You can also just use the lasso tool or pen tool. Personally, I prefer the lasso tool. Rendering takes some time and patience though and you might want to use big, HQ pictures.
