i would just change it into a floating layer (click OK on the window that pops up) and then double click on the layer again once it's done. that should bring you to the blending options =D
Hmm, that sounds just like I did. I changed it to a floating layer. Than I double click it. Hmm, let me go try it out again.
Thanks.

Can someone please do anew tutorial on making video gifs? The one that is up is really...confusing. I tried to do it and I'm getting no where
Perhaps you need to learn some basics of the program you're using before attempting more.
The tutorial seems pretty straight forward to me.
If you're having trouble with certain steps, ask specific questions about your issues.
Asking someone to make an entirely new tutorial because you're lacking the basic skills is absolutely ridiculous. If you're really 'getting no where' with the current tutorial that's up, another tutorial isn't going to help you.

here's a super easy way on how to do it.
duplicate the image. and make it black and white. so the top layer should be b/w and the bottom layer should be in its original colors. so all you got to do is add a layer mask (optional) and erase the parts you want to be in colors.

I had asked the same question on page 92. It's actually REALLY SUPER DUPER easy.
Just follow the middle quote
Hope it helps!

Open an image file>>>duplicate layer (ctrl+j)>>>
Now on that new layer >>> filter>>>blur>>>glaussen(how ever you spell it) blur and set that to which ever is best. I'd have to say 5-10 would be ok>>>Then go to layer option and set to DARKEN
Hope that help :3
ooh~ thanks too!

Step 12) Your banner should have a main layer that is the background of your whole banner. You make have several layers for this depending on how you designed it. If you haven't done so, please merge these layers together. (If one of these layers overlaps the GIF image [such as a pattern, text, gradient, brush, etc.], do NOT merge this layer with the others.) Once you've merged the background of your banner, make sure it's selected, then hold down CRTL and click on the GIF image. This should put a marquee around the GIF image. Hit delete.
Right around this step is where I start having trouble. I merge all the background elements (excluding the parts that overlap the gif, because I did use brushes over it) and when I select the merged layer and press CTRL---> click on the GIF, nothing happens. I am not supposed to merge the gif with the background right?
Here's what I've been doing. Hopefully someone here can help me out! Thanks

I'm going to use this picture of this handsome young man hehe

Open the file/picture that you want to use. It will be set as a background. Than go to edit and duplicate the image.

Click okay

You should than have two copy of the image.
Now go to enhance and make one of the copy black and white.

Does yours look like this?

Next part might sound confusing, but open up the "layer tag" and make sure the Black&white background is the only one in the little box thingy. If not just click on the B/W picture. Now, click that little image of the black&white picture and drag it over to the color copy. It should look like this.

Just use the move tool to center the picture. Now delete the other unused copy. The color copy should now be a background while the b&w is a layer.

Now use the eraser tool to erase the parts that you want to be in color. You can also zoom in too see what you are doing better. When choosing a brush size, I recommend size 13 but you can use whatever suits your need.

And the finish product.

I hope that was easier than done.
Any guestions feel free to ask.
*note* I just realize my pictures are pretty big >.< I tried to resize them the best I can without make it unreadable. Haha

I made a little tutorial on how to make gray scale pictures with that one specific item/person only in color. [haha, i really don't know what to call it]
Lets just call it Gray Scale shall we?
Thanks for taking the time to put this together, but if you take a look at the front page (or through the thread), you'll see that 'selective colorization' has already been covered.
We're trying to keep repeat tutorials down to a minimum, but as so many people seem to be asking the same questions over and over again, I'm sure this post will help some of those people.
Cheers.

One problem I see w/ your layers though...you don't really have a background layer layer....well I see you have the black filled there, but it might be best to make it into a real layer...like hmm right click on the layer and go to "rasterize layer"...might help.

yea, but she's showing a different method on how to do it, so I think this is alright. But yea I really wish people would look at the first page instead of asking the same questions all the time.
And thanks to all those who made the newest tutorials, really helpful. I always try to remember to come back and check them out.

BTW...HI EVERYONE!
I tried that too but I can't seem to get the gif to be the bottom layer and show up. Any suggestions? As soon as i open a new project, I click edit:fill:black, then I paste the gif. And I doing this in the wrong order? I did it the other way around also, but it still didn't show up if the gif layer was on the bottom.
