i noticed that in your dotted border tutorial, you were using a picture of boa with her name written in transparent text. i wanted to know how you do that..i've searched alot of tutorials but didn't get to learn how that is accomplished..if you could hlep me that would be great! thanks!
Change the mode of the layer to OVERLAY/ SOFT LIGHT or any other one. Play with it & see what you like.

You lost 'everything' because the computer was rebooted?
That makes no sense.
Do you mean it was reformatted?
Windows reinstalled?
Along with moley's suggestions of changing Blending Modes, you can change the 'opacity' (the amount of transparency) of any layer with the Opacity slider (which goes from 0 to 100%) at the top right of the Layers Palette.

when i tired layering it it didnt let me have an option of doing it. do you know what i can do? its on step 3 with the picture of the lips. im new at this =)
You weren't really specific with your question. What option? I THINK you're talking about the 'dreamy feeling' picture tutorial. You should have your layer palette open. There should be a little selection box that has all those different layer styles. I think it's already explained quite clearly, though >_<

^ there's heaps in the artwork section.
HERE is the link to the thread.
Usually, when you download brushes, you have to extract them from a folder. Then, once you have the brush folder (usually abr. type) you open up photoshop, go to your brush tool and there should be a little arrow. I can't show you caps cos i'm in school atm. but there's an option to LOAD brushes.
i'm sure someone will be able to explain. if not, i'll make you caps when i get home.
i owe:
- blinkie tutorial.
- uhljjang tutorial.
haha.

The reason the Blending Mode Options aren't available when you follow that tutorial is because the writer of the tutorial left out one critical step.
Which is to duplicate the original layer, then desaturate that duplicate layer.
If you look on the front page of this thread with the index of tutorials, you'll see one called the '30 Second Makeover.'
It's pretty much the same concept with the desaturation step left out.
Follow that tutorial and add the desaturation step if you like.
i have a question.
Every time i open up something to colorize, the colors i use turn black and grey and white. How can i change this?
MUDDIE!! i demand (request) you to put up that BLINKIE tutorial!!!!
Click on 'Image>Mode' and make sure it's set to 'RGB'.
Okay, I am a complete noob at photoshop. I totally love all of your tutorials, especially the one with the gaussian blur -> overlay, Umm. May I request a tutorial as to how to download and USE brushes? Yes, I know this sounds pathetic, but like I said before, I am a total noob. I'm really interested in web-designing. And also, could someone post a few links to sites where they offer brushes for free? Thanks =)
Adobe's Studio Exchange.
You'll find Custom Brushes, Styles, Shapes, etc.
Use the search box to narrow the field of files.
Also, it's not a bad idea to Google the term 'photoshop brushes'.
There are dozens and dozens of sites that offer free downloads.

Err. Do I have to pay for the Adobe Studio Exchange? And is signing up for it the only way I can get it from that website?
you cant mess with that.

All you need is an email address to sign up.
It's free.
The sign up is so you have the option to purchase items from the Adobe store.
However, the Studio Exchange files are all free.

Well, the thread is called 'Photoshop Tutorials and Requests'...
I, myself, haven't looked at Paint Shop Pro in about four years.
Back then, Paint Shop Pro was touted as 'The Poor Man's Photoshop.'
Meaning, I guess, that much of what you can do in Photoshop can be done on Paint Shop Pro.
I'm pretty sure that Muddie's a good candidate for Paint Shop Pro stuff (she made that dots tutorial with Paint Shop Pro).
I have no issues with people posting tutorials based on other programs, but it doesn't seem to make sense in a thread that's based on people looking for Photoshop help.
And since I'm way too conceited to try anything I'm not good at, Paint Shop Pro is not in my near future.
But if you do have specific questions about how a certain effect is created, I'm sure we can describe it in a way you'll understand enough to duplicate in whatever program you're familiar with.
Happy clickin'!
