i was wondering how chibi_ryou got the shadows to be on the inside of the banners. they're very smooth and clean as when i try to do it, the shadow seems to spread out.

^ outline what you want to shadow by pressing CTRL and clicking on the layer
ie. for text
1. type something; it will come out as a type layer
2. CTRL + click on the typed word layer (you should see the moving dashes outlining the chosen layer)
3. make a new layer (SHIFT + CTRL + N)
4. fill the layer with a grayish color (SHIFT +F5)
optional:
** 5. if the gray outline layer isn't below the original text layer, move it below the original text layer now before moving on!
6. with the gray outline layer selected, press the DOWN and RIGHT (or LEFT) arrows (this makes the shadow to appear)
7. done!
--- works with any shape.

Blargh...this is really making me annoyed...
You know how when you type text, it automatically makes a new layer? Well it's not doing it... and when I click on the text button, and then click on the image, it makes the image red... and then after I type the text in, and click somewhere else, it turns into this:

with those lines outlining my text...argh, how do I get rid of this? I KNOW I probably screwed up and pressed something by accident.. x.x;;;

^^ I think the fonts are downloaded and the hearts are brushes. Not sure though

MeiNing: you might have click the text mask button (sorry for the wrong term), you could create a new layer using that by clicking Layer>New>Layer after you type your word, you could fill the "running ants" after you've done that with gradients or a solid color OR

right click the Text icon on the tool bar and select the solid T. That would instantly make a new layer and a solid colored text.

kneekey: for the 3 people on the picture, the person just positioned the people on the right places, erased some parts and desaturated the images. As for the effects, make a new layer, fill it with black, filter>render>lens flare and Filter again with the distort filters. Afterwhich you could duplicate the layer, filter again, erase the parts you don't like and set the layer to screen. If you want to change the color of the lines...image>adjustments>Hue and Saturation, click the colorize check box...hope this helps

if you want to change the layer mode to colour... argh i don't have PS on this comp so i can't make caps for you. But, if you have your layers palette open, in the top right corner there should be this little white box that says 'normal'. click that, scroll down and change it to colour. =)

as for the eyelash thing... the finger thing is the smudge tool if you trust my memory haha. it could be hidden at the moment. do you have the blur tool? click on that button and you should be able to see more selections (the smudge tool should be one of them)
